Have been trying to find someone who has information on my problem. Last year, I had to have a pacemaker installed because my heart would stop beating for 30-40 seconds sometimes.

Does anyone have any experience with doing psychedelics, especially ayahuasca with a pacemaker? Or with any heart condition?

Pacemakers are not about arterial problems, not about clogged arteries. Pacemakers regulate the electrical system that keeps the heart beating.

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Vine of the Dead

Hi MillieNeon

I would advise not to do ayahuasca with any heart condition. I would even include emotional heart conditions. It's other name is Vine of the Dead and from my readings of people documenting their experience you definitely place your internal organs under strain. You might want to contact Michael Harner at www.shamanism.org

I read The Way of the Shaman where he explains in detail his personal experiences with taking ayahuasca. Breathing and heart rate drops to almost nothing per minute, imagine the physical strain of holding your breath for as long as possible. Then doing this for 2-4hrs non stop and then the rush back to normal breathing and heart rate.

So, my humble opion - no, rather investigate a lighter psychedelic like Blue Lotus or Salvia Divinorium etc.

Forgot - Good source on experience

Forgot to mention a good source to find feedback on experiences about just any substance would be Erowid. Found a rather sad case http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=76251

Here the whole lot on Ayahuasca

Emotional Heart Conditions?

Hi MillieNeon,

I can't answer the question about Ayahuasca being safe with a pacemaker; AirBear's suggestion to contact the shamanism.org website might provide some clues. But as someone who has been in ceremony several times I can tell you that it does not put any particular strain on your internal organs and I'm not quite sure what is meant by "emotional heart conditions", but one of the main gifts Ayahuasca imparts is the purging of negative thought patterns which would include "emotional heart conditions", if I am understanding AirBear's meaning correctly. Who among us doesn't hold emotions in their heart? In fact, emotional memories are stored in all parts of the body.

For more accurate/complete information on the phisiological effects of drinking Ayahuasca please see this site http://www.ayahuasca.com/?p=44 and refer to the section entitled "Assessment of the Acute Physiological Effects of Hoasca Tea (Callaway, et al., 1997)" It's a wonderful resource and you may even get some further clarification on your inquiry there.

Peace to you.

Risks vs Benefits

Yeah I agree with agent of chaos, I have no idea what AirBear is refferring to when saying "emotional heart conditions". And I have never heard B Caapi (I assume thats what AirBear is talking about) referred to as "Vine of the dead". It doesn't put any strain on your internal organs, perhaps AirBear is referring to the purge when they say this, not sure. Even then that is the whole point of ayahuasca anyway... Purge your negative patterns in order to gain a new insight

I wouldn't advise taking ayahuasca with a pacemaker though. Probably no pschcedelic would be good with a pacemaker, but I guess you need to weigh up the possible risks versus knowledge/insight gained and the many, many benefits from these.

B Caapi would be modern name

Like I mentioned before in Shamanic practice B Caapi commonly known as Ayahuasca in Ecuador and Peru (Inca "vine of the dead, vine of the souls," aya means in Quechua "spirit," "ancestor," "dead person," while huasca means "vine," "rope"). Found another source used above to explain origin of actual word.
Please see url http://deoxy.org/ayadef.htm If you google 'vine of the dead' you'll find many more.

Emotional heart conditions - yes, things like worries, depression etc. or you could even phrase it Spiritual Emergency - see Stanislav Grof http://spiritualemergency.blogspot.com/2006/01/forms-of-spiritual-emerge... or on Reality Sandwich article

"Today we are on the verge of witnessing a collective manifestation of what Stan Grof calls ‘spiritual emergencies.' His recent book, When the Impossible Happens, presents a vivid inventory of such emergencies."

"Grof has shown that traumatic experiences normally dismissed as due to ‘mental breakdown' or ‘mental illness' are actually opportunities to break through into non-ordinary reality and acquire paranormal perception. The 2012 endtime marks a global pandemic of such opportunities."

Thanks folks

Have actually taken it 3 times before getting the pacemaker. Don't remember a slow heartbeat, but I did purge a lot.

I will not do it again unless I find substantial information that it's safe for my condition.

I really appreciate yr responses to my question.

and a new time is still dust
not yet a star

Google man

AirBear, please don't quote me Grof as I have many of his books and am quite familiar with his works. Also, B Caapi is not ayahuasca on its own, its is "the light", only when a suitable admixture "the vision" is added such as psychotria viridis does it become ayahuasca. You sound like someone who is very good at googling things but not experienced in much

emotional heat problems

Are probably the most promising vector for psychodelic therapy, according to most researchers--including S. Grof.

I have no comment on the physical heart issue; IANAD, and I doubt western medicine has enough info on this particular pharma to give you the kind of firm advice you are looking for.

Hi,

I trust that what you've read so far has been informative. MB6-871 exam The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain. I recently started at a small company as their Systems Admin that has a Windows SBS 2003 running Exchange 2003 that had Trend Client/Server security which was expiring. MB6-872 exam Since we plan to migrate off of SBS to a "regular" 2008 Active Directory and Exchange 2010 we purchased Forefront for Exchange and used the downgrade so that we can use Antigen until we migrate. Since I am able to export what has been quarantined I have been providing our users with a list of emails that have been quarantined in which some legit emails are getting quarantined. VCP-510 exam These legit messages are getting quarantined due to the RBL-Smaphaus lists. JK0-018 exam There are not many but since there are some the users want to know why these are getting blocked and are complaining that they are getting blocked which has me questioning whether Antigen is a good option to use?
