Let's talk about sex

13 Muluc recently blogged about sex and drug taboos and I realized yet again what a special place I live in here in Humboldt County, CA. Growing marijuana is the biggest engine of our local economy and nobody would deny it. Its use, and even discussion of the topic, is so common that I simply don't experience the existence of the taboos 13 Muluc discussed, though I acknowledge they are real for many living elsewhere. But this isn't a post about weed. Let's talk about sex...

Certainly there are taboos around sex too. Lately I've been feeling almost as liberated from these as I feel from those about ganja. That's because I've immersed myself in a sex positive community, attending adult play parties hosted by The Impropriety Society (aka "The Imps"). At first I didn't discuss this at all with family and friends who haven't attended. Now I'm promoting the events and helping expand the organization. I've also started dealing openly with my exploration of polyamory. Just as I've joined Evolver to forge community that may feed back into the development of ManifestPositivity.org, so too I've joined ModernPoly.com. It feels very important to be making these connections and to be walking the talk.
