For those of you on the West Coast, I invite you to celebrate the release of my debut book, The Electric
Jesus: The Healing Journey of a Contemporary Gnostic. These Evolver gatherings will feature aliens, ayahuasca, and chakra activations -- oh my! (I'll be hitting the East Coast later in the year and the middle of the country during spring and summer).

Save the Wirikuta's Sacred Site

[Action Alert] • The Wirikuta Cultural and Ecological Reserve, located in Real de Catorce, Mexico, is in danger of irreversible damage due to Canadian mining company First Majestic Silver Corp's plans to mine silver there.

The site is sacred to the Wixarika People, who practice their ancient religion in this reserve. The landscape is not only crucial to the lifestyle and culture of the native inhabitants, but is also home to an immense variety of animal and planet species, some endangered.

Dean Radin is a senior scientist at The Institute of Noetic Sciences where he studies exceptional human experiences and conducts parapsychological research. He claims that psi phenomena do indeed exist--he's researching how and why they happen and extending the frontier boundaries of science in the process. He identifies five different types of psi phenomena:

Psilocybin shows promise in the treatment of depression, the UK Home Affair's Select Committee kicks off its first evidence session on drug policy, and a Polish politician threatens to light up a joint in parliament in this week's psychedelic news.

The Energetic Facts of Life

The following originally appeared on http://mitchfraas.blogspot.com/

Life is a merry-go-round.
Like the one at the end of Strangers on a Train,
it's out of control and spinning faster and faster. Every atom, every neutron,
every proton, every electron, increases its spin and raises its vibration as a
necessary response to the increasing DENSITY of our times.

Crafting Our Activism

With the mainstream excesses of Valentine’s Day 2012 approaching, Craftivists are cleverly fusing their love for hand-crafting goods with their compassion for those suffering in the world. Sarah Corbett’s London-based Craftivist Collective is a hub of international creativity, inspiring the transformation of a purely practical or leisurely activity into a seriously playful form of activist creation.

Researchers at the University of Sidney in Australia have concluded that rising global temperatures have increased the brain functions of lizards. Quicker response times in simple learning tests have been recorded when these tiny lizards are exposed to higher temperatures. This has lead to
some concluding that as the world continues to warm, so will the cognitive behaviors of our reptilian neighbors.

“What is the internet?,” asks one of the now-hilarious VHS-era videos sampled in the opening sequence of the recent collage-umentary INTERNET RISING For the next hour, the filmmakers take us on a far-ranging journey through innumerable perspectives on that basic question, from technogurus (Kevin Kelly) to e-celebrities (ze frank), media scholars (Douglas Rushkoff) to Second Life activists (Serenity96).

Fight Big Brother ACTA

[Action Alert] • The fight to preserve our online freedom is a seemingly never-ending one. With all the controversy surrounding SOPA and PIPA, you may not have heard of ACTA, or "Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement," which threatens the basic infrastructure of the Internet as we know it. ACTA is an agreement between countries besides the United States, which means it can be passed without the approval of Congress and the Supreme Court.

Buddha, Jesus & Ayahuasca

The rising interest in Eastern spiritual disciplines, shamanic
ceremonies, “the psychedelic renaissance,” mystery schools, and
neo-tribal festivals like Burning Man reveals a potential reemergence of
the initiatory process in our techno-industrialized world. Could
civilization itself be acting out a hero’s journey, embarking on a quest
of separation, initiation, and reunion in a final dramatic act to heal
ourselves and our world?
