Species Wide Neural Retardation and Fruit Fueled Evolution

Terence McKenna - “I believe that the lost secret of human emergence..the undefined catalyst that took a very bright monkey and turned that species into a self-reflecting dreamer..that catalyst has to be sought in these alkaloids in the food chain that were catalyzing higher states of intellectual activity.”

Changing your thoughts re-writes your physical synapses.

I have placed a link to a video below. This was forwarded to me by Amit Goswami on FaceBook. It shows the brain making and breaking connections. Another proof that thought is independent of the brain as the brain adjusts to the thoughts.

Why Placebos Are Getting Stronger Than Drugs

HEISENBERG UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE

Not too long ago I learned from a notable academic article that placebos were not only getting more effective but that at the current rate they may surpass actual drugs in efficacy in the near future.

Interpersonal Analysis-Me and the Planet/-Essay

Cognitive thought creates the chemical reaction in human expresses through and emotional and physical response. This process is started in the amigdyla a component in the brain that processes reaction to event (i.e. interprets what you are going through) and decides the course of action in response.

Rewiring Our Minds for a Modern Lifestyle

Our modern neurosciences now tell us that the human psyche adapts and evolves according to social and environmental impacts and influences. In other words, how we communicate as a "social animal" wires our neuronal brains and influences the formation of our psyche.

What hat?

I saw a picture of this zombie ant with a little tiny mushroom hat. Only it wasn't really a hat. It was a mushroom growing out of the brain of this poor unsuspecting ant whose very existance was being remote controlled by a fungus attached to its brain. This picture disturbed me for a number of reasons. It was an exquistely lit and incredibly sharp photomicrograph with bright colors.

Icing on the Fruit

Energy condensed,
A river of passion bleeding itself onto an otherwise blank canvas.
The fruit of my perception, a gift for who but God
Void of her beauty in no way am I
If so cast me down for myself I have denied
A crystal clear reflection of the divine light
Tugging so patiently for its moment to shine
Translates to me as a twinkle in your eye

Colliding & Merging Universes

We are not the knowledge we collect or identify ourselves with, we all have the ability to tune into inner sacred knowing and being, for some, this might seem an abstract concept because we as humans have been so conditioned into collecting data and seeking outside of ourselves, we are addicted to seeing proof of that knowledge, it is an addiction bred from disconnectivity to the source, insecurit

Egoitis

For 15 years I've believed in anarchy, the kind that exists in the presence of peace and equality. There have been moments when my heart has soared in the feeling of true anarchy. Certain times marching in the street, neo-tribal campfires in the ancient forest, planting gardens, painting community center walls. I cherish these moments because they've been few and far between.

Spinning.

Awake to the incessant spinning, this morning my brain is in a box. In the middle of a waste filled desert. A vulture who sees my container, is curious as to it's content. But not being able to see inside it waste no time lingering, and flys away to more hopeful prospects.

Is the brain concerned with "truth"?

Let's continue blabbering about such things as "truth" and whether it actually means anything. The way I'm thinking (which is all over the place so you may want to back quietly out the door now), I think we'll need to drudge through random thoughts on the brain and whether it's concerned with this nebulous "truth" business, and what we can make of "truth" if our brains--which most of us will agree is our main source for the scoop on such things--has less to do with it than we tend to suppose.

The Perpetuation of the "I"

Where does the perpetuation of our self-reflection, the I we perceive ourselves to be, come from?

My best guess is a combination of biological determinacy, knowledge, experience, and the corresponding memories (and physical brain changes) experiences produce.

Consciousness: what is a priori, the brain or mind?

For the past decade I've pretty much been a fairly strict materialist. At least when it came down to asking what I would stake my life on. I don't know if I will ever NOT be that way.

Using Your Brain

What goes up must come down. That is a fact. Isaac Newton discovered this while sitting under a tree. While it is commonly believed that an apple fell onto his head and he discovered the effects of gravity, the actualities of this story cannot be verified.
