In researching my latest book, I found this poem I wrote exactly ten years ago on 9-12-01.

The Commencement

After all the tragedy, how will we react
Will we sit in fear, anticipating
Or will we allow the opening of our hearts
Letting this event move us beyond

Dear ones, just on the other side of the veil
Watching us, wondering if their sacrifice be in vain

What Are the Right Questions?

Can a 4 million year old species save a 4 billion year old planet? Is the species saving the planet for the planet's sake or for the sake of their own survival? If the specie's largest endeavors on the planet only rend forth resources and shed back poisons, is the species cooperatively living with the planet or systematically against it?

Choosing an Off-The-Grid Lifestyle

Five years ago my wife and I moved from a large metropolitan area to a small, remote western area, in the mountains and have developed an off the grid homestead. We are practicing self sufficiency, conservation, organic gardening, and learning to live more simply. We miss nothing of our previous urban lifestyle. We have unplugged from the television and most other mainstream medias.
