Is Ritual Sacrifice embedded into the fabric of society?

As a kid I remember an old film were this guy rescues this girl from another guy. Then throughout the film the couple spend it running from that guy(a warlock) and a witches coven. In the end the warlock recaptures the girl so our hero has to rescue her again, this time from a ritual sacrifice. Only this time he gets there and he's betrayed by his best friend and the girl.

the meaning of life. what are we supposed to do?

Modern civilization has its roots in a deep misunderstanding about our role in this universe. We build tools and spend time constructing buildings, bridges, roads, etc, but for what purpose? Currently, we're laying the foundation for a global corporate power structure that has all but replaced government by the people.
