I'm writing to discuss a curious thing that sometimes happens to me and I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on it. It almost always happens when I smoke weed, although not always. Whenever I am smoking and get particularly aroused—this can be sexual, but is usually as simple as some sort of intellectual arousal—I notice that my perineum becomes aroused and enlarged slightly.

Not too long ago I learned from a notable academic article that placebos were not only getting more effective but that at the current rate they may surpass actual drugs in efficacy in the near future.

Death anxiety is driving me crazy! Simply put, I need my soul friends. Its been a long time since I visited here. Life has been full of paradox, upheaval, settling... the wheel continues to turn.

There is something very disturbing that is occurring in the music scene that I have noticed as of recently. I think that the planet consciousness/mass consc uses certain shamanic plants as like a phone ,or like an advanced pheromone , and certain people are good receivers for the messages , when they get high they get the right visions and their experiences shape their goals in life in a way that are in line with nature etc ...

In Marijuana and False Enlightenment the author offers an interesting take on marijuana but one that I feel may be a bit of an over reaction. It seems he found that weed gave him the power to tune into some greater level of awareness, but never anything connected to the heart. Could this have been a lesson that marijuana was teaching?

As long as people have been doing drugs, other people have been pontificating on the right way to do them. Today, when people talk about drugs in any non-reactionary way, it is usually from the polar high grounds of either Science or Spirituality. And while Science gets the respect, Spirituality gets all the media attention.

As a child in school, I was fascinated by the fact that only a few generations back, it was considered normal for a person to own slaves, for women to be denied the vote, for gay sex to be a crime worthy of imprisonment. At the outset, it is almost inconceivable that good people could have bought into a belief system that condoned such things.

It's been difficult to write as of late, so sorry for the delay. As it happens, I am recently out of the hospital from a bad fall wherein I needed surgery to put some broken bones back together. The narcotic pain killers have also numbed my ability to tell my story, though, truth be told, this is my third attempt at writing the next installment of my story.

It’s not every day you hear a positive drug story, so even though it’s rather personal to me, I wanted to share one of mine..

I think one of the more important things that Neal Goldsmith (shameless plug-he is a friend. buy his new book!) points out about psychedelics is that it any therapeutic/spiritual benefit that we derive is not so much an effect of pharmacology, or, by extension, of the particular substance that we take, but rather a function of whether we achieve a "peak" or "mystical" experience. This is a lesson that would be well-taken by our community, I think, because we often give a great deal of consideration to the various minutae regarding the massively variegated set of psychedelic drugs we have at our disposal--and this is certainly interesting, all the more so if I can say that a methoxy group here tends to cause this sort of trend in the subjective experience, and it is this sort of investigation that lead me into serious study of the drugs--but to a certain extent emphasizing the differences between drugs can cause us to miss the boat, and variety of experience can cheapen the depth of the experience.
