Wall Street analysts talk excitedly about the “newborn market.” Disney representatives enter hospitals’ birth rooms with sales kits, trying to sell onesies with Mickey logos to the enthralled or scared parents soon after the baby cries for breath.
Every time I talk about overthrowing the system, even peacefully, people always say, "Oh no, you can't do that, you can't have a revolution! That's violent! That's wrong! You shouldn't talk like that. You need to calm down. You need to breathe. You need to meditate. You need to find peace within yourself and stop lashing out. Blah blah blah blah blah."
We've seen it over and over again. We saw it in Iran. We saw it in the Ukraine. We saw it Haiti. We've seen it in countless other examples that I can't even think of off the top of my head because there too many of them. The US, sometimes in conjunction with other powerful countries, stages a coup and then installs a leader who will do their bidding for them.
I wanted to celebrate and honor the spirit, bravery, and determination of the people of Egypt to peacefully change. For freedom. For dignity. For a people's right to self determination. For peace to triumph over all efforts to subvert it and drag it down into the mud. For the heart and soul of a people who have inspired us all.
Being caught up in the enthusiasm that has spilled over from Egypt the following fantasy came to me:
