Pulling away an old way to allow a new one is full of pain, shock and the failure of the means of the provision of needs. Food, medicine, water, shelter, natural systems - all of these enter states of risk when an entire Paradigm undergoes metamorphosis.
I'm currently conducting research as part of my Psychology Honours degree. The research is about spiritual emergencies or crises. A spiritual emergency is basically a spiritual experience or awakening which is overwhelming, chaotic, frightening and difficult to understand and integrate into an existing psychological framework.
