A couple of years ago I was sitting in my apartment just enjoying the late summer afternoon when I noticed a strange rumbling sound followed by a vibration. This was the first of what would be several over a period of time. It reminded me of a part in the film, "Jurrasic Park", when the kids were in the back of the SUV and the dinosaur was approaching. A boom , then a vibration.

It was 200 years ago today that there was an intense rumbling along the New Madrid fault line that was felt as far away as Boston. Parts of the Mississippi river ran backwards and even formed a lake. What a similar quke with a similar magnitude would do today could cause widespread devastation with a great loss of life.
The last black water dragon year was 1952, which left us with the introduction of the hydrogen bomb, the B52 bomber and smog. The founder of craigslist, Craig Newmark, was born that year and is a water dragon himself.
