Irony in Second Life's Buddhism

I find it terribly ironic that we have in places, such as Second Life, virtual reality Buddhist temples, when in fact the whole point of Buddhism is to remove the individual from the trappings of mentally projected virtual realities—typically emanating, in the literature, from ‘self.’

The Revolution can use Capitalism to Transcend Capitalism

"The Universe is Selling Cars to Itself"

this is the non-dual idea behind capitalism

Many "Evolved" sorts resist Social media and the funnel system (what is often called funnel marketing). But before you back away, think about it - the funnel system is simply offering your ideas or products or services or workshops along a range of price points

Emp - ti - ness - Wisdom of Emptiness - a Buddhist lecture

The wisdom of emptiness is the ultimate teaching in Buddhism; its main tenet is that our suffering is caused by our inability to perceive the true nature of reality.

These teachings on emptiness are very subtle, profound and deeply transforming, Yet with correct understanding, we can shift our experience of the world.

Do you seek True Revelation? What does this all mean? What is religion?

We all want to know what is going on. What is life? What is the purpose? What is religion?

For a while now I've posted about chakras, energy, spiral dynamics, ken wilber, conspiracy, and illuminati - then this past week I have been tossing around the idea of ETHOS...

EACH TRY (for) HAPPINESS) OPENS SADNESS.

If Sad, Be Sadness Buddha

Meditators: We practice no matter what. I asked a meditation instructor what drew him to the practice and he said there was a time in his life when he was in a very painful relationship and the cushion was the only place he found and real sanity. That always stuck with me, real sanity.

The Protector says, "Watch our for this!" or "Be wary of that!"

The way we often express love for ourselves, or others, is to be The Protector. The Protector says, "Watch our for this!" or "Be wary of that!"

The mind seeks to be happy and this seeking itself is what makes it unhappy.

The mind seeks to be happy and this seeking itself is what makes it unhappy.

"Asking" how can I be satisfied is not being satisfied.
It is asking.

The fallacy is that asking "how can I be satisfied," brings the
answer, but it simply gives you
a reason why you
are not satisfied
with things as they are
right now.

Evolver is what you make it...

I was once very involved with Evolver, but now I choose to post articles and videos on occasion. This thing is (like all things) what we decide it will be. I enjoy having a forum to post my crazy ideas and find that people derive benefit. What other place can you do that these days? :-)

When will the spiritual path make me happier?

Many spiritual seekers get embrace the path because the want to stop feeling badly - or to feel better. Because turning on the lights in a room reveals all the dirt - the path can increase one's suffering. But what happens if we stop trying to manage the moods? What if "good," "bad," "profane," and "holy" are seen to be just thoughts? They lose their power when you stop judging them constantly.

Investigation of the need to defend ourselves or save the earth...

In life we often feel compelled to defend ourselves. If not ourselves, we may need to defend another person, a belief, or a cause. This can lead us to be attached to an image of ourselves, and a need to maintain that image. This can all happen without us realizing its an image, and not who we truly are. But what is the purpose of that image?

Thailand's Buddha Mothership

"The dome is actually composed of 300,000 identical titanium- and gold-coated bronze statues of Buddha -- another 700,000 are nestled inside a temple that even devotees will admit looks like a UFO.

Some call it, "The Mothership."

Emptiness is Beautiful

Emptiness is beautiful in its truth
Freedom from those things I love and contrived to make stay
This will never come again, this interaction, this conversation
our sun sets tonight in a brand new dying sky
Even darkeness, beautiful, growing paler even at its start
Our will to change, to live and love will never be stronger than today
Because we are empty ....passing too
