Sacred Economics

Hey folks,

I was just wondering if any of the members of the group have had a chance to pick up a copy of Charles Eisenstein's new book "Sacred Economics"?

I was fortunate enough to grab the last copy I could find at a local shop and have been breaking into it recently and would love to know if there were any other folks out there who might be interested in sharing some thoughts.

Critiques and Questions for the Venus Project - seeking response

First let me start by saying that the fundamental goal of the Venus project is in many ways harmonious with my personal vision. I too see the monetary system and its ancillary functions as being obsolete and not in harmony with the nature of humanity itself. I agree with almost everything that I've watched and read on the subject.

Governments

I would like to say I am not necessarily an anarchist. I just want change within our system. If our governments are willing to change the way they run from the best interests of the corporations to the best interest of people I would be happy.

Normotic Illness and the Question of Healing a Commodity Culture

In his psychoanalytic work in object-relations theory, Christopher Bollas identifies a phenomenon among his work with patients that has been named "Normotic illness" or "normopathy" within the psychanalytic field. Bollas' angle is that such a disorder is created through a misrecognition of "the other".

Raindrop Reflections

I had a job interview today. As I made my way to the offices of my potential employer, I got caught in traffic. I know, everyone will say, "well you should have planned for traffic, that was very irresponsible to you." I left with plenty of flex time available for my commute, but I encountered standstill traffic about five minutes into my drive.

on making cloth

I am aware that a very important and central aspect to Mahatma Ghandi's nonviolent protest which culminated in the retreat of the British from colonial India was his insistence on the weaving of cloth in the traditional custom of India.

We Need to Get Beyond the "Working" Mentality

The idea that one must work has been ingrained in western culture for so long that I realize it'll be hard to break the spell. However, as we've been witnessing more and more people without work and struggling to survive, I think it's high time we discuss the psychology of work being a necessity.
