One of the longest debated puzzles of life has always been that of destiny and free will; is our future predefined, or can we effect its outcome. Through a paradigm of only cause and effect, these are the two logical possibilities.

Free will as it is usually understood is the ability of an agent to do an intentional action that is at least to some extent independent of influences affecting the agent. This independence is supposed to make the agent the ultimate controller of his actions, which guarantees that the agent is morally responsible for his actions and deserves rewards or punishments for them.

I read this and, to me, it seemed to reinforce my belief that I am in control of my own destiny. Like I am here in the middle of an infinite number of choices, and I am in complete control of which choices I make. Like an infinite number of paths and I get to chose the one to walk down.

Humans beings shouldn’t feel compelled by other human beings to do anything they do not personally desire to do. Humans shouldn’t have to work in order to survive. Everyone should be provided for, no matter what, simply because mother earth allows for it to be that way.

I've always wondered how "free will" could truly exist since we do, after all, live in a reality dictated by chemical and electrical reactions. How can we truly choose what to think if we are the victims of a chemical reaction already seet forth in our own minds? It then occured to me. We our more than just our bodies. Our minds are the conjoinment of both our soul and our body.

Before I dive in and share the avalanche of crazy and amazing cosmic downloads I’ve received recently, I figured I should probably fill in some of the back-story as to how I came to know or even care about ANY of this stuff. I guess the first real pivotal awakening moment came the day I learned that I could CHOOSE MY OWN THOUGHTS.

Here I propose a proof that we are never in control of our actions, and indeed never can be, and thus it is impossible for us to have a capacity generally known as "free will." The sense and belief that we are in control of our actions seems to be an illusion created by our limited perception and knowledge.

In context, I live in a fraternity. I was cleaning out the room that I am moving into.. trying to reach a high spot above a closet when the cleaning lady asked me if I needed a ladder. I said no, but she insisted because the cleaning closet is the second door over.

Drugs mess-up your head. This message is carried explicitly or implicitly within every warning on illegal drugs. The warnings are very rarely placed alongside a balanced description of their benefits. If this were the case we would see: ‘Sometimes drugs mess-up your head, and sometimes they help solve your mental problems’.

There is no more denying it. We are changing every day. Each of us, and collectively as a race. Evolution is no longer only occurring over “long periods of time” and "at random." It is momentary, immediate, and guided. And even could be speeding up.

This is a little more “out there” than what I usually write, but I like exploring the fringes of my thoughts sometimes, even if it doesn’t necessarily mesh with my logic or experience. This isn’t a research piece, more like conjecture and what I feel—maybe the story works for you, maybe it doesn’t.

What is free will? Some say it defines a human being. Others claim it is an illusion. The more I think about it, the more I realise that everything depends on the definition of a human being. In other words, we must first know what we mean by "I".

As i see it, we are caught between two very different realities... our western “scientific” thought and the spirit world entheogens have brought us. It isn’t as easy as it looks to blend the two together.

The question of destiny or free will is one i still cannot answer... I have switched between the two more times than I can remember. Right now I believe thats its a combination of both working in harmony to burn karma from previous lifes while still giving you the "choice" of how you wish to learn those lessons.
