it is ok to "just be"

i came into this world understanding this concept. i have been criticized for "setting the bar too low" for myself. could be. that is because it does not matter. i am. that is enough.

the boogey-man is gonna get ya...

"don't wander too far into the woods, little redrock," called her mother when the head-strong little girl disobeyed, as was her custom and pleasure. "i don't think i will mind if the boogey-man gets me. i might learn some new tricks from him. and who knows, maybe it could be the boogey-woman. she would have a unique perspective on things," she mused.

where do i go from here?

just keep on keeping on till my party is over, i suppose. i always knew there was more than meets the eye. when i was a little kid, i wandered away from home many times to walk along the stream and sit underneath a willow tree and listen to the chirping of the birds and the humming insects, to see the waves in the hot air and sense the breeze.

The Vale of Happiness: Book One by makalani nosakhere (snippet)

“…Hope Street, South Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. 1950’s

Managing to exchange identities, Mother became Esmeralda Rivera, avoiding suspicion by Dominican custom officials, and persecution upon our arrival in America.

The plan was for her to sow our family’s seed of redemption (me) where the beast would least likely look.

The Vale of Happiness: Book One by makalani nosakhere (snippet)

…Cordillera Central, Hispaniola, West Indies. 1633.

We chose life in the Cordillera Central mountain range, over existence on the sugar plantations of the Spanish.

Subsistence through Earth’s elements, over subservience in the colonial labor force.

Still, our ex-captors had no intention of leaving any of the island outside their sphere of influence.

being god

to use a cliche, i am a spiritual being having a human experience. i am generally content and well in the simple mode of "just being" - having a presence which is perhaps inconsequential in terms of human achievement but fulfilled in my personal "divinity." no, i am not arrogant. i have lost my human form, in the castaneda sense. question is: now what? persist?

Who am I? - The question of choosing one's identity

Today I stumbled over an essay I wrote in May 2000 in preparation for my dissertation (which was on "Identity and international business negotiation" - IBN are a bit boring on their own so the identity concept was supposed to make it a bit more interesting).

Explore Thy Selves

The Ancient Greek aphorism “Know Thy Self” (Greek: γνώθι σεαυτόν or gnothi seauton) was inscribed in shiny gold letters above the entrance to the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. It is a fundamental concept attributed to a number of philosophers, including Socrates, and an ideal that the human race has been striving towards for 2500 years.

I give up

So at the ripe old age of 23 I've finally gotten over my soul searching. I'm done shuffling through philosophies and ideologies. I'm tired of trying on and throwing off all these different systems of meaning. It's not that I've finally found the real me, or that I've settled into a particular worldview. I'm honestly no more confident about who I am or what my place is in the world than before.

Identity

More than twenty-five years ago I took the ferry across the Irish sea from Britain to the land of my ancestors. I’ve always been fascinated with Ireland. Both my grandmothers had stories to tell about it; though they spoke from quite different perspectives. A lot of Australians attest to the uncanny experience of stepping off the boat at Dun Laoghaire and immediately feeling at home.

Channeling Thoth: Getting in Touch with Language

The following is a piece of writing I actively channeled from the language god Thoth. It was for a transformative class I took three years ago by the name of Doubles, Doppelgangers, Clones, Surrogate Selves and so forth....This class was about exploring and creating a multiple identity through art, writing and reflection.
