The Earth is undergoing the largest mass extinction since the Late Cretaceous period some 65 million years ago. Every ecosystem is being stressed beyond its capacity, at the same time every area of human society is undergoing chronic systematic decay and disintegration, collapsing under its own inelegance and hubris.

Humanity as a species has moved along and made amazing technological advancements. However I believe we are going at a slow pace compared to the possibilities. The internet could be used as a worldwide hub of information, I mean that is what it is.
I would just like to request a moment of your time, maybe something will be gained; maybe youll lose a few precious seconds of your life, but either way i believe that you may benefit from what i have to say... The problems we are facing...it is not due to our systems, and not due to our beliefs, but a corruption of ourselves.
With the Internet becoming more friendly to businesses and advertisers, we're seeing an increase in concern over privacy. Gone are the days of not revealing your name to "friends" in chat rooms. Now a lot of our personal information is openly available on the web, whether or not we actively send it to anyone.
As I sit at my laptop, surfing the internet I noticed something. A feeling, I suppose I will call it. I felt like I was inside the computer so to speak. My mother always tells me I need to come out of my Computer. I think about this and she is right, I am on this laptop 80% of my waking hours, if not more. It is always beside me, always on, always logged in…I am ALWAYS connected.
It seems hard to imagine a "Freedom of Speech" story more primed for the 21st century than that of Wikileaks, a renegade social platform intent on exposing the secrecy and lies of large international institutions throughout the world.
I can download files in seconds, check email instantly and surf faster than I have ever imagined. And satellite broadband is compatible with Windows and Macintosh, so getting online anywhere in the contiguous U.S. is easy!
Before I start, I wanted to recommend something that I think it would be in everyone’s best interest to spend the hour to watch. It is a special called “Digital Nation” that Frontline has done on technology and our rapidly changing society. The reason that I would strongly suggest this to everyone is because we are so immersed in our technology nowadays - and that technology is changing so quickly - that it is really important for people to stop and just take a look at what it is doing to us.

Instead of asking for handouts to keep the site going, why doesn't Evolver/RS provide a service that would bring ad revenue and more traffic to the site. A dating site. Hear me out on this one. Even a free dating site like plenty of fish pulls in a lot of ad revenue. And it is more popular than much fancier pay sites (Alexa rating 106 in the US and 341 worldwide).
It's obvious that aside from the great potential the internet has, there is also a great deal of negativity, trolling, and destructive behavior online as well. The internet is a manifestation, a reflection of our state of being. I believe this is an important thing to keep in mind as the evolution of technology continues to speed up.
