Hi :-) I don't often forward emails but I felt that this time it's important that people know what is going on with our right to grow, share, trade and sell the food we grow ourselves. Gardening, specifically growing edible things has become a passion of mine. Sharing and swapping/trading what I grow is a natural extension of that passion.
1. Try to cook/prepare/order meals that contain the 6 essential flavors: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent. The physiological (rather than psychology) urge to over-eat comes from a lack of satiation. The brain sends signals of satiation when the tongue comes into contact with all of those tastes (which represent the array of a balanced nutritional profile).
The USDA has alarmingly and mistakenly announced that they do not believe that consumers care whether or not GMO's are a part of our food supply and our agricultural production.
Approving GMO alfalfa would significantly harm the integrity of and access to organic food, as well as the livelihoods of organic farmers. We need to show themthat we do indeed care!

Food has always been political, but in the last 50 years the game has significantly changed. Most of the stuff we consider “food” isn’t food at all—it’s a heap of chemicals made to look and taste like its real counterpart. Go into any supermarket and read the ingredients of the stuff they sell.
