I had lunch yesterday with my best friend of over thirty years. He is being treated with chemotherapy for leukemia and has other health challenges, too. At one point in the conversation John told me that despite the physical torture of his treatment, he has never been so happy. He said, “All the crap, the fears and anger just disappeared, and I feel freer than I ever have in my life.”
There was an interesting topic that came up at the annual North American Vegetarian Society’s conference last week. It was something that I as a woman, I am concerned with, but tend not to think about. ….. it was the topic of Erectile Dysfunction…. I never realized how common a problem it is, even among men as young as their 20’s.
Perplexed-- on the order of: "Really? Seriously?" Sacred sexuality? Candles and incense? Spooky black hooded monks? Secret occult taoist tantric methods of ordained lovemaking?
Physical passions denied is told
Yields a saintly presence to shine as gold
Chastity a blessing no matter how old
Value of morality beams proud and bold
Bullshit!
One need seek and feed physical desires
To explore hidden wanton lust’s raging fires
To challenge mischievous ways to take them higher

Do I feel completely and utterly satisfied with my partner when it comes to sex? How much of it has to do with my partner? How much of it has to do with me?

...With a dwindling rapid heart rate, scorched hair, and a bit of a burn on my chest, I sit here contemplating what the hell just happened. Of course, I'm speaking about the raging fires we have been experiencing for a month or so with the amount of Aries energy in the sky.

As a child in school, I was fascinated by the fact that only a few generations back, it was considered normal for a person to own slaves, for women to be denied the vote, for gay sex to be a crime worthy of imprisonment. At the outset, it is almost inconceivable that good people could have bought into a belief system that condoned such things.
What is it about the sun that makes us deny the shadow? We revel in the dark until we find a light, and then we escape it as though it were an epidemic of catastrophic sorts. Lost under a veil of life and death, light and dark, we will always fight for the light of life, that is always our initial base, our lead.
It's been difficult to write as of late, so sorry for the delay. As it happens, I am recently out of the hospital from a bad fall wherein I needed surgery to put some broken bones back together. The narcotic pain killers have also numbed my ability to tell my story, though, truth be told, this is my third attempt at writing the next installment of my story.
So many questions are received regarding the Sat Yoga attitude toward sexuality that a general clarification may be worthwhile. But because this subject is highly charged; it is extremely subtle, extensive, and multidimensional; and the engine of sexual desire resides in the unconscious, rather than the conscious mind; thus, the issues must ultimately be approached on an individual basis.
A recent episode on the Passionate Eye a weekly documentary broadcast (http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Shows/The_Passionate_Eye/1274903384/ID=1801202...) by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) titled Peep Culture reminded me of a poem I wrote a few years back having observed this growing phenomena titled:
