Watching television while waiting for the world to end

Watching television while waiting for the world to end. Sucked in and supplanted with images and entertainment designed to emote me, brainwash me, control me with a steady drip of intoxicatingly delicious, mindless garbage and false fear. There is no forest, only trees...

Musings On LOST: What They Taught Me

The credits rolled, images of Flight 815's wreckage solemnly passing through our eyes. The room was silent. Earlier in the night, I predicted the finale of LOST to be accompanied by silly, drunk applause; apt for a rowdy bunch in their 20's and 30's who've enjoyed the ride--for the most part--since the beginning.

The Co-opting of Youth Culture

Yesterday I took my little sister to the mall to pick up a DVD and look for anything related to Alice in Wonderland. She's really, really excited about the upcoming remake -- and it makes me sad to think that this younger generation won't be as critical of these so-called "films," these CGI landfills. But I've complained enough about that, and I'm trying to be a good big brother.

Four Arguments for The Elimination of Television

If you accept nuclear power plants, you also accept a techno-scientific-industrial-military elite. Without these people in charge, you could not have nuclear power. You and I getting together with a few friends could not make use of nuclear power.

Citizens Band goes Digital

Recently I've been reading alot about the FCC's recent reprovisioning of frequencies currently allocated to the (soon to be) former analog UHF TV band known as the 700mhz band and auctioning them off to giant communications infrastructure providers like Verizon for their own for-profit use.
