In 2003, I was living at a downtown apartment in Montreal, a spot where we were experimenting as a green kitchen, and where I was also sharing Qi Kung practices with people coming through. Having just shared a session with my roomate and a passing friend from Maine, we were speaking of our experiences and also of other practices we had encountered.
Shamanism is of great interest to many these days and here at Evolver it's an obviously popular topic. Certainly it's a favorite of mine and one that brings me back looking for more. Central to the discussion has been the many varying interpretations and definitions for "What is shamanism"? Or rather "What is "real" shamanism"?
Writing is a way of organizing our thoughts and making better sense of our world. I would even consider it a form of contemplative meditation. When writing, we connect different concepts together in our heads, mull over different ideas, and often aim at trying to paint a picture or tell some kind of story.

Can you do any of these things? Do you explore visionary states, astral travel, move out of your body, enter deep trances or meditative states or similar?
I am looking for information on methodology from people who actually DO these things as opposed to thumbing through the New Age books that primarily seem to be rather... insubstantial.
I went to my first Shamanic talk the other evening. I am hoping to do a course with these guys and thought I would go along to see what kind of people they are. Totally lovely I am happy to report and I will be doing the course asap. Sincerity is such an amazing trait and these people just oozed it.
