Agony is...

Having young children.

Not for the usual parental complaints - "my kids are so whiney, my children are so demanding" - no. Agony is watching your children get older. Agony is a Sunday night when you know that when they open their little eyes in the morning, you'll be on your way to work.

Besides a few art shows that I helped organize and was in, I had one interview, where I was told I am overqualified to be a server. Funny, because I've never served.

No one should ever work.

Work is the source of nearly all the misery in the world. Almost any evil you'd care to name comes from working or from living in a world designed for work. In order to stop suffering, we have to stop working.

After only one week at my new job I'm already on thin ice, mainly because I find it increasingly difficult to cope with the society in which I was reared. Signs are everywhere around me that the capitalist system is reaching its end, and I highly anticipate its demise, yet while it is still in place I have no idea how to continue to live within it.

'Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water, after enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.' is a Zen saying that touches on the importance of work. Karmic yoga कर्म योग is one of the four pillars of yoga and means "discipline of action." It is the principle of doing work for the glory of the Universe rather than expecting a reward.
