I thought of this old poster that my aunt used to have in her house in the 80's. I was fairly young and thought it was nice but didn't understand the impact of simplicity. I realize now, that there really isn't much new wisdom, that the answers are in US. When we KNOW we are the change, the world will change!

I recall sitting on a stoop on E. 10th Street in 1969 with my hippie buddies (we called each other “freaks” then; an affectionate term we gave ourselves which stemmed from the derogatory way the straights referred to us). It was summertime and the big wave of hippiedom had come and gone from the city by then. Suddenly a freak comes by, takes one look at us, and opens up his leather satchel.

Years ago I read somewhere that one of the beautiful facts about the Western interest in all things Eastern and Indigenous is that they have been embraced and integrated without any coercion or force from the sources. There were no overt campaigns of conversion, subliminal manipulations, or outright war. There simply continues to be a giving and sharing to those with open hearts and minds.
