Philadelphia citizens are uniting to transform our city into the next American Transition Town. Transition Philadelphia is a grassroots group that is networking and building connections of grassroots groups and activists in order to achieve the critical mass needed to achieve sustainability and resilience in our city.
Terence McKenna hoped that by the end of history we’ll have become street smart in the ways of demonic materialism as we return home to the family farm in eden.
My hope is that we’re able to make this journey before natural and/or artificial disasters make it more a matter of survival than lifestyle.
Last month our Evolver Spores focused on Local Resilience. Groups explored transition towns, barter pods, urban beekeeping, adaptogenetic plant medicine, re-skilling, Tree People, "Crude Awakenings," dumpster diving at Trader Joe's, and more. "What will we do when the shit hits the fan?" was the question that percolated in the pockets of discussion tucked into sofas, on top of big pillows, and sitting cross-legged on the floor across the studio where we meet once a month for our Evolver Spore meetings.
Here's a thread to post anything you learned or would like to reflect on re: last week's NYC Resilience Spore. I had a great time and learned a lot, and am just full of gratitude to the Commons and Evolver for making it happen.
