I was recently listening to the Singularity Podcast interview with David Orban, and found he had a quite interesting take on where the Internet of Things (IOT) will take the human race (see my recent blog posting on IOT for some context).

Paul Allen (and Mark Greaves), co-founder of Microsoft, recently wrote a piece for MIT's Technology Review titled ``The Singularity Isn't Near'', which you can read by going HERE . In it, Allen argues that both simulating the human brain and producing non-brain-simulation full AI are not near to being achieved...

You've seen viral videos. We all have. Right now, they are unpredictable and they evolve right before our eyes. What if there's an evolutionary path for these viral-ideas that sweeps the globe within days or even hours?

The singularity is now, in the present moment, where creation is happening, here, which we're waking up to, the now. In complexity theory, it is observed that when a simplified and idealised population reaches a certain threshold of component complexity, a system of negentropic novelty emerges spontaneously and sustains itself at a higher frequency of order, auto-catalysing and self-organising.

A friend recently posed the question to me of whether or not there are ultimately two different factions, those who get it and those who don't. Now that's an interesting way of putting it, succinct and to the point so long, of course, as 'it' is defined.

The way we see the world is always changing because the world is always changing. If everything is in a constant state of flux, then how can there be objective knowledge?
