Spirituality and Modern Oppression

Ever since 9/11 2001 we have seen a slow process of rights reduction. However this is actually at a faster pace now then ever before. The derogation of our rights in the US actually goes back many decades. The most notable was Nixon declaring a war on drugs.

Gentle Words

It takes some doing learning to write or speak without using violent words. They are ubiquitous in our American experience.

In this vein, I am not a 'warrior' nor am I "fighting' the established order. Things don't 'hit' me in a particular way; I don't wish to 'slap' anyone on the back.

There is a new sales campaign the Disney Company recently announced. Sitting on the Cushion of Mother Earth: Excerpt from the Forthcoming Book by Rachel Mann

I am sitting on a meditation cushion in a musty domed tent in the Green Mountains of Vermont. There is a raised dais in the front. On it sits a beautiful Native American woman with sparkling eyes, a gracious manner and a melodious speaking voice. She is called the Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo. She is Cherokee. I am entranced by the chanting, visualizations and teachings of peace she offers.

Do it For God. Do it For Country. Do it in Love.

Have you ever sat back and thought about the IDEA of a "DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE" and a "CONSTITUTION?"

The United States Constitution ROCKS!! We have soooo many RIGHTS that we CAN EXCERSIZE in America (we need a few amendments, tho). :)

I think it is a Duty to excersize our Political Rights. I have a duty to be involved politically. This is called Civic Duty.

Why I'm NOT a Pacifist

I blame Derrick Jensen. In his book - Endgame II: Resistance - he lays down a thorough analysis of the abusive dynamics and how pacifism relates to this, over three chapters. I've picked out a few particularly salient quotes from each chapter, but I REALLY encourage you all to read the full chapters themselves:

Tao of Doom

I think of the global human-ecological dilemma as a scaled up model of "Musical Chairs." You walk in a circle around chairs in a zombie-like manner as music plays. When it abruptly stops everyone jumps for a chair, yet there’s an ever-diminishing number of chairs so someone gets literally assed-out.

What should our Intention be towards animals in a Community?

After watching these documentaries:

"Earthlings"
http://www.raw-wisdom.com/earthlings

"Peaceable Kingdom"
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1302229573448724495

what do you think about animal enslavement being incorporated into intentional communities?

Isn't it less sustainable, less compassionate, less healthy, less sanitary?
