Standing naked can be difficult when shoulders
are forced to shrug off the addictions of
psyches tawdry tumble through
the realm of flesh and failure

Our dreams like love affairs seem so fragile
and simple mistaken for flaccid
as the pied piper’s lead steals our innocence

In the face of these
Insidious insults
recast failures
semi-public
melodramas and self
indulged hypnological deterrents

What hope and faith?
What impossible belief asphyxiated under water?

I will not accept the drowning!
I will not go quietly into the dark night!

I will learn to breathe water.
I will bring flash lights and lanterns
Large drums to keep my procession of footprints in time
I will cry

The persistent dreams of those too strong or too stupid
to be put off by the possibility of failure float like morning’s high light

I was once told the most difficult of life’s tasks is to be yourself
Honestly - Openly
To walk with love rather than fear as fuel

My reply was the buzz of a bullet
Stopped by a hair weave

The fall from 20,000 feet
Screaming rush of wind
Visions of land
Careening faster
Into the yawning gullet
Of an inevitable rush

All of it every last drop of what it is to be human
The hate the envy the lust the insecurity
ripped away tossed nonchalantly into the
gutter of this new realization that to stand naked
in front of the world is to stop bullets
raise flags and declare victory in the soul

I'm a registered nurse specializing in Perinatal Services. EVOLVING through my career as a Labor & Delivery nurse, I've become more passionate about questioning & educating myself (and joining others with the same passions) about the atrocities of westernized births in a hospital setting. I ponder the evolution of our future societies (in regards to LOVE) when cesarean rates are reaching nearly 35% in many hospitals across the country & where pitocin is given to pregnant women like candy to children during Halloween. I've become more and more passionate about un-medicated, natural childbirths. Coming back to our great Mother, I believe SHE had it right the whole time. I truly feel in my heart that a Peaceful Mother Earth starts with a Peaceful Birth.

I am an artist. I paint in oils. I lived in a yurt for 2 years without electricity or running water, but just recently moved back on the grid. Missing it now that spring is soon upon us. I am currently working towards a masters of education in the Arts.
