About Me
- Bio
I am a documentary film major at the University of North Texas. There I founded the Denton TX chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (http://www.studentsforademocraticsociety.org/)
I became heavily involved in anti-war activities, culture-jamming, and revolutionary politics. (As well as a little psychedelic experimentation)
Later I landed a job at a progressive/liberal talk radio show in Dallas. I now co-host a morning drive-time talk radio show.
(http://www.rationalbroadcasting.com)I now scrape out a meager living as a broke college student with a microphone gig who tries to stay active in the community and give a voice to the voiceless.
- Skills and talents
- I have a lot of experience in freelance graphic design. I am an event flyer factory. I make flyers for everybody. I also make zines, playing cards, and posters. I'm an arts & crafts kinda guy. As a film major I am prolific in video editing, sound mixing, location shooting, etc. All the required video skills. I've done a bit of freelance videography for local protests and events. As a radio host, I am a skilled talker. Most people, I understand, fear talking in front of a crowd more than anything. I am not that way. I can make speeches, lead chants, conduct an interview, or just ramble comfortably. I tend to be the media liason at protests. I guess organizing and being an activist is kind of a skill right? Being able to work with people and allocate tasks. Set goals and gather materials. Advertise events and get people to show up. That's what community activism is all about. I know many people who are much MUCH better at it than me, but I do alright. I also dabble in yoga, meditation, psychedelics, the occult, tarot, and other mysteries, but I would not describe myself as talented or skilled at any of these things. I'm just a student and a participant.
