We speak a lot about our intentions. We intend to do many things. We try to do things and occasionally we do things. I may intentionally eat a mushroom. I may intend to eat a mushroom. My intention in no way guarantees this to be. What is the distinction between intentionally acting and the intention to act? Do we recall the old adage, "The road to ruin is paved in good intentions."? Can we look out at the world to notice the road we've been walking?

Perhaps you recall an experience from your past? "I never intended to cause an incident..." "I never intended to be late..." "I never intended to break your heart..." "But I did it anyway..."

Perhaps you've seen 'The Secret' and resonate with the teachings. As I see it there appears to be some disconnect when we consider the Law of Attraction and think that attraction operates purely on the intent of positive thought. Surely negative thoughts will only generate negative results, but positive thought doesn't assure positive results. There are components to the Law of Attraction just as there are components to an electromagnet. Whereas one takes wire and wraps it round a coil. One then has to shove energy threw the instrument. If you skip any of the parts it's like multiplying by zero.

You can take a truth and multiply it by a truth, by a truth, by a truth and in the end you will have an exponential truth.

3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 81

Multiply any amount of truth by one lie and in the end you have perhaps a lot of circumstantial evidence which amounts to nothing.

81 x 0 = 0

As I see things the seem in the tapestry isn't between intentionally acting and the intention to act. Rather, it is between intention and volition. Could it be said that the result of any action is not threw ones intention but threw their volition? Some may argue that volition is intentionally acting. I then contend that intentionally acting doesn't necessarily result in what was intended.

One may be a vegetarian, grow their own food, and sport a bumper sticker that states, "Meat is Murder". While I applaud the disposition and intentional act. What shall we call it when a bystander sees your bumper-sticker and rather than resonating with the statement, takes offense or simply goes out and intentionally eat an animal consciously as opposed to unconsciously as a result? No you had no intention of inciting such response, but it happened anyway and the examples are immense if not limitless.

So the real magic then can be found in the dissemination of ones own volition. If the ones intention is to evolve there must be a volition to undergo transformation from within in harmony with natures laws. Rebellion, particularly against creation cannot be in the ones volition.

The Universe knows what it wants, it wants to create and evolve and it knows what it needs to do so. It needs love to evolve and it isn't threw our intention that we express our love. It is threw our volition. It's no coincidence that these words are embedded within each other both forwards and back.

Love = vol; evolve, volition, evolution, involvement, volume, volunteer are all as causally linked as the earth is to going around the sun and why interested parties who promote fear for whom intent appears to be to keep you in your condition. Some may throw around labels like "evil" or convey it threw their actions or more appropriately volition. Perhaps they fear change and seek to keep you from evilving; to live in your condition and not apply the proper remedies to cure the condition of our circumstance. Which is love and the love of ones I and yes, even our devolution would be a product of our love threw our volition.

Needless to say I think it's poetic this site is called Evolver. Something that did beckon me to join.

"Tending Within" the Volution of Volition

To intend /intent .. refers to "tending within" ... the infinite worm-holing volution into focused volition.

In others words it is ones very intention that allows the unlimited possibilities of choice {infinite volution} to become a single volition .. tending and tempering "possibility" with relative need {and/or desire}

It is all but a flowing motion .. no real need to misuse the tool of vocabulary to separate out and make unnecessarily distinct such an integrated science of expressive person-hood

Actually the flow is a

Actually the flow is a toroidal vortex.

Define person-hood? The sentence this phrase is joined with does not read as complete.

How have I demonstration a misuse of vocabulary?; and by what yardstick shall this be measured by?

The possibilities of potential and choice are always there, certainly not manifested as a result of one's intent. Is it your perception that volition can be reduced strictly to intentions? Intentions may play a role in initiating, guiding, and sustaining intentional action. However, intention alone is insufficient to account for the initiation and execution of all kinds of intentional actions. Intention must then be supplemented with volition.

Intention carries with it degrees of potential and can extend well beyond the result of any action. Volition simultaneously results from all actions intended and/or not. In turn this result of action is ever emergent out of the next moment from which degrees of potential are left behind by ones intentions. If ones intentions never provide enough potential to the present to carry out an action then can intentional action even occur?

Another way to look at it is intention extends from the beholder and looks out to potential threw the window to the future. Volition seems more or less omnipresent, reaching back to the present from as far out as one can potentially perceive although it can only ever have effect in the present.

"Seek not abroad, turn back into thyself, for in the inner man dwells the truth..."

Language

Person-hood refers to "Character" ... all who have character, are personalities.

From the Quantum perspective, it is only the personalities existential flux between volution /wave ... and ... volition / form ... that lends "the determination of relativity to the quantum equation. "

I was not questioning your use of language but of the philosophical need to separate volition from intent.

As one gains specific revelation {Zen} from infinite possibilities {Tao} .. well it is the ongoing flux between these "poles of purpose" that contain the language itself ... and not the other way around.

My literal interpretation of intent is "tend-ing within" ... the zero point field state within each of us ... our conscious core ... is a potential state of volution ... infinite cycling ...

Volition is merely each and every "vector" taken into time and space ... action and reaction ... inertial relativity.

If one is tempering this inner Juggernaut of potential with skill ... the very function of the mind ... then this "tending within" or intent is symbiotic with all that it is associated with ... inner/outer environments etc.

Never needing to experience the duality of the decision making process .. the Biblical Tree of Knowledge

Deciding to choose ... choosing to decide ..

or directly intuitively knowing ... {Tree of Life} ... as the intention is now nothing but a representation of the infinite potential. {volution}

It is person-hood itself that is now the representational value of the equation having realized it's skill at "co-creation" in each and every manifest moment

I thought it was clear that

I thought it was clear that intent doesn't necessarily mean that what should arise from ones intention is in fact intended. Thus, volition cannot be merely reduced to intention for if one misaligns their vector, their intentions can't possibly produce the desired/intended result. For every conscious intentional act and corresponding result, there is at least one if not many equally unconscious unintentional results which no degree of tending within can foresee.

Okay so person-hood is the character... If one has no character can they be a personality? Or if one is of less character are they less of a personality? If the driving force behind person-hood is an equation, what then is the equation?

"Seek not abroad, turn back into thyself, for in the inner man dwells the truth..."

Personhood

The "tendencies" of the personality are the intentions of the character. Latent, inherent etc ... yet the infinite source of all such potential has no known volition of it's own .... just "volution" ... every person but their own "vector of volution" .. hence volition.
