Self-Sustainability & Growing Food versus Government Policy

When we talk about solutions to the worlds problems often times self-sustainability and permaculture tend to be a hot topic, the ticket, and almost a given. But again, I ask you, how do you protect it? If you have no contract or don't control your contract and find yourself subject to the arbitrary nature of someone elses contract, i.e. the Constitution under the 14th amendment, etc... How can you possibly expect to keep or control anything you build from here on out? If a thing was never yours to begin with, if continued upkeep on whatever you're presently maintaining or planning to maintain, is all built with borrowed resources to which you pay taxes to cover mere interest on. Then whatever it is you think you "own" is an illusion and fantasy. Then whenever it comes time to pay the devil his due or put the pieces back in the box; Can there ever be any doubt as to what shall happen next when this bell tolls?
I'm not saying we should ever stop growing our gardens and building Earthships and the like as there are three keys to freedom, you must first have your health and well being. Your abilities are next; economics and other 'ability' to resource gather so that you can maintain your health and well being, which growing your own food well fits into. But the final one is self governance, requiring self-determination which in turn must be self-evident. Fore as I see things, this is the only way to protect the other two, else be re-publicked inside someone elses republic; granted civil rights which can be un-granted and everything right down to what you think is your commercial identity stripped away at the whim of whichever jurisdiction assumes title over that Trust. (no, they don't have to wait for RFID to do this)
I'm sure the video below to many of you will seem an atrocity. But public discussion around it likely won't ever address this mans failure to understand the conditions of his residency. The failure to understand the codes and regulations which he's already agreed to, proofed by his residency and citizenship status, i.e. consent of the governed, is now being pressed just for the sake of being pressed by the code enforcers who can since he already consented. So of course this will be and has already been perceived as some type of injustice, right? But is it really?
Currently, there may be no way of telling exactly how this case will turn out, but I can assure you that more of this is to come if the conditions are continued to be ignored. In time, persons who find themselves in such positions will too find themselves with their backs to the wall, herded into a corner, and utterly annihilated by Uncle Sam's club. All just so we can sit around and call ourselves Americans, practicing that patriotic past time and religion otherwise known as Nationalism. Well if people want to say that government is not God, then they must behave as though they truly believe it themselves.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Winston Churchill
I shudder at this prospect and I know my call for Self-Determination goes largely unheard by most, perhaps people fall under assumption and presumption only pretending to know what this means, perhaps it's such a foreign concept it can't be heard, I don't know. Or, if one were born a slave and were taught to be a good slave, as well as falsely believe that this is what freedom is, then perhaps it's the latter. Please, take a moment to consider these words and to compare them to your present condition. Odds are already against you, as they always were and as the final hour approaches so to does this "precarious chance of survival".
"If from lawlessness or fickleness, from folly or self-indulgence, they refuse to govern themselves, then most assuredly in the end they will have to be governed from the outside..." - Theodore Roosevelt
Which is exactly what's going on is it not?
"They can prevent the need of government from without only by showing that they possess the power of government from within, a sovereign can not make excuses for his failures; a sovereign must accept the responsibility for the exercise of the power that inheres in him..." - Theodore Roosevelt
The time to learn to self govern is now, the need has never been greater and the choice rests on you alone, no one can learn to self govern for you. If the gentleman below were a Diplomat or Ambassador and his home a foreign consulate, there would be no issue. He would have his immunity and protection. Well if you say you would like to be an Ambassador for Peace?; I ask you, are you prepared to pledge your life, your fortune, and your sacred honor?; Are you prepared to really be that Ambassador???
How else can you weather the storm? How else can you even band together in Unity if you remain bound separately and divided as slaves? Maybe you still think a slave uprising is gonna do it?; that this is what's needed to set you free? Is pride really so great as to refuse to accept responsibility for the freedom you seek? Dare I challenge and maintain that anything less than assuming this highest of responsibility is nothing more than a cognitive pitfall.

important questions asked
...and yet I am not sure where you are taking it - I need to re-read and re-consider much of your thoughts...
was it not Hobbes, the first political philosopher in the modern era, who stated that the state of nature, where the life of man is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short, is a state of war of all against all. And that what is needed is a sovereign who by contract is put in charge of the subjects. And all subject are in contractual relationships with oneantoher - all signing away they "freedom" or liberty in order to leave this not-wanted state of nature.
Sure, many followed after Hobbes but to me this view still prevails today - it's been ingrained into society and our understandings of the world and how humans are - which, in my humble opion, is completely wrong.
But unless we overcome this notion - this false notion - of human nature, the state of nature and that we need someone to "help" us achieve a framework where we can all live in peace we will never be able to make the step, the necessary and important step to self-determination.
Issues like these and what you have pointed out interest me a lot - though I do not see a quick fix and to be honest, am struggling to find a "recipe" on how to go about - any ideas?
Thus, as long as there are sovereign states and we acknowledge their right to exist. As long as we allow governments (the council of men - the sovereign) to decide for us. As long we will not be able to break free. Or will we? I think this is the big question - one that has nothing to do whether we live in a (so-called) democracy, a tyranny or monarchy or what have you. The question is - how do you give power back to the people, how can people take their power back - if the system still exists and the contracts are still in place between the majority of the subjects? Those who break free - who end the contract - are no longer part of society (referring back to Hobbes in a way) - those would be the ones practising self-determination right? So where does this leave us? A two-tier society - the rebels and the slaves? And how do we get out of this?
2011 So Cal Permaculture Convergence
This is a powerful conversation that in my opinion is the one of the few most relevant conversations worth engaging in if we are going to talk about evolution and transformation.
The Southern California Permaculture Convergence is coming up soon and if any of you are in the area I hope you will join us to engage in this related conversation in person.

For now I just wanted to let you know about this powerful convergence that is coming up.
I will be back later to read all the comments and maybe make a few of my own to engage in this conversation that I am very passionate about.
Thanks you Absalom for your thought provoking post.
I totally agree with you...
But I think that self-sustainability/non-compliance is the right direction to begin moving in. We cannot work through the system or reform the system. That is a dangerous trap. How will we keep them from just coming and burning our gardens and taken our land? I don't know. But I have faith. This is not just a physical war but also a spiritual war. To stay trapped within their energy matrix grid means that your spirit as well as your body is trapped. Getting off the grid gives you a change at freedom. It is imperitive for you just as a individual. Look at the dollar bill and see the evil Illuminati symbolism. If that is what you depend on as your lifeblood, then surely your soul will never be able to cross over into higher dimensions. If we build a haven, it will have protection from divine forces beyond this world who want to help us. If we stop complying, it will inspire police and soldiers to stop complying. But we must be the inspiration. I had a dream that there's going to be a successful revolution in the mountains of Nothern California. They tried to squash the off-grid communities but they couldn't, because much of the military had defected, and a lot of military vets who knew how to use military tactics were fighting back against them. They lost. We won. So follow your own dream, follow your own heart, and you will be lead to safety.
