From Crawling to Quickening: Emerging out of the Dark Ages

Correlating the end of the Mayan Calender and the end of the Kali Yuga (Dark Ages, Iron Age).
We need a 3rd to really make this work beyond belief, but I believe we can connect these 2 cultures cycles of time. According to the modern story of the Yugas as presented by Sri Yukteswar, present time is fixed in the age of ascension after the Kali Yuga called Dwapara Yuga, or the bronze age. Brilliant, well what does this mean? Sri Yukteswar speaks of the Dwapara Yugas as atomic ages. Man will awaken once again to the knowledge that material world is in fact made of energy and not gross matter, from the subtle realms down to the subatomic level. We supposedly emerged from the Kali Yuga around 1900, and with the advent of the A-bomb one can not deny we are, alas, in an atomic age. Now, fixing time is difficult. The current Yuga model is set for a 24,000 year cycle, with 12,000 years descending from the apex of the golden age, and 12,000 years ascension from the the most horrific nightmare of a darkage from which we currently digesting and healing. 2012, we all know as the end date of a Mayan cycle, is not lining up nicely with 1900 a.d.- the end of the Kali Yuga. Sure, 100 years of so is nothing on a cosmic timeline. I've searched the web for hope of some one else publishing material correlating the two. I've found some, but most is a definitive no, and many traditional Vedic scholars are nursing a Vedic cosmology contrived in the last dark ages which leaves us with 4 million years to go in the kali yuga. Thank God for Sri Yukteswar's enlightening assertions. But I do believe even his time is fixed mildly incorrectly, and I entertain the notion that we are still in the Kali Yuga and will emerge from a transition period that is heavily steeped in either Yuga's karma, on the Maya end date. How can these two great ancient cultures and their revered time cycles so close in proximity have nothing to do with each other?
Research Walter Cruttenden (http://www.realitysandwich.com/ancient_cosmology_map_future) has done via the Binary Research Institute shows that the extend of a full "great year" or Yuga is looking more like 26,000. Which leaves me curious as to why he is not questioning Sri Yukteswar's model and fixing time on the event horizon of the next age. We are still using our atomic/ subtle energetic awakening on a globally destructive scale. We make nuclear weapons, harmful prescription drugs with profit as a motivator, and everything we still seem to touch, we break. We (Evolver audience in particular) have awareness. And with this self/world/cosmic awareness we are experiencing a quickening towards and beyond 2012 and into the new age (Dwapara Yuga).
