Into Nothingness

Breath of air like a calming rush of life through the windpipes. It's when you know you've decided that everything is going to be ok. Shortly thereafter, another rush; this time a suffocating one; gasping for air you drown in a sea of red. You've made this choice and there's no returning to the original state. Staring down a spiral of nothingness your life flashes before your eyes. You've done nothing noteworthy, nothing to justify your existence in the world. Taking up space and breathing air while contributing to infinite chaos; focused on mundane nothings while simultaneously missing the larger picture. You've thought many times how you could contribute more, how you could live up to your own skewed expectations of greatness, how you could please everyone in your life. But somehow, you've failed and you find yourself there now: in that ephemeral gray area between life and death. How does your life measure up against anyone else's? No intrinsical special value can be assigned to your life for you are nothing more or nothing less than one unit of life; insignificant to the world and negligible in added value. In terms of the absolute you are nothing but in terms of the relative you may be everything. This notwithstanding, you chose to die long ago. Nothing can be done to recover your soul; that is if such thing even exists.
