little white lies and the american dream (note to self)

this is a test of the emergency broadcast system...

this is only a test...

if this were a real emergency death or evolution would be inevitable...

there is no intermediary
between you & god,
or you & the prime creator,
or you & the great spirit,
or you and the great mystery...

there is no hand to hold,
no priest to interpret,
and no other person that holds your key

perhaps some may give you a boost,
or lend you a lantern,
or (naively) mention something Wonderful
But it is all your own Doing,
and your own being
that lights up your Soul
and your Vehicle,
and your Path
and your Divinity

so don't let others aggression,
possessiveness, & insistence
guard the gateway
of your own evolution

if the way is blocked at all
- you put them there

and by this point in your life,
this is all your own doing
- your own mess
-- at this point they are merely following your subliminal orders
that you hastily decided
years ago, when you were younger
& much more influenced by the fears,
prejudices, & anxieties harbored as an adolescent
(albeit shadows w/ no actual material substance)

and though we have grown immensely
we still have not managed the time
to rethink, rewrite, and reprogram our thoughts
(they continue on like they have a mind of their own...)

thus i ask thee?
so what gives?

it is not that we don't want to change in a snap;
Nay, it is just that our endogenous humyn neuro-chemistry
predispositions us to 'programming'
and the little rituals that we now take for granted
as being 'us', & 'our thoughts', & 'who i am'
(and if these things are wonderful then let me say i have no argument yet to dissade you from eternally embodying these traits, other than perhaps "entertainment value")
[insert evil laughter here]

But also along with this
are habits of negative reinforcement
- little white lies that we tell ourselves
to keep the facade of comfort-ability
the psuedo-serenity of "OK", "fine", and "good"
and all the while longing for something more

Not knowing quite how to say that,
or to articulate it so that 'unknown'
so that you know you are understood
and not laughed at for the fool you are

it is pure folly of the american dream,
to expose as little weakness as possible,
to appear superhuman at all times,
to seem as hercules, einstein, joan of arc, MLK, JFK, jesus, buddha, assata, malcolm X, jim morrison, jerry garcia, or whatever is your personal deified Archetype

however, we can only as far as the weakness of these folks themselves,
when we refuse to acknowledge those things in others (and ourselves)...
-- which you and them and myself have...

and until our mental membranes
can fathom 'killing' the buddha (should you ever meet 'em)
and until you can disempower your idols,
and until you can analyze yourself without judgment
and until the day we decide to destroy all the masks
- we will continue to lock ourselves up - inside & out
-- like hamsters on the wheel,
rats in a maze,
or lemmings destined for the cliffs

how many times and how many ways do i have to say it?
