Please join me as I take a trek out to the Pine Ridge reservation to earn my Permaculture Design Certificate and help create self-sufficiency for members of the most impoverished community in America.
The Pine Ridge Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota is in inhumanely deplorable condition.
A brief summary of the challenges faced are:
Lakotah men have a life expectancy of less than 44 years, lowest of any country in the World (excluding AIDS) including Haiti.
The Lakotah infant mortality rate is 300% more than the U.S. Average.
The rate of diabetes is 800% higher than the U.S national average.
Median income is approximately $2,600 to $3,500 per year.
97% of Lakotah people live below the poverty line.
This is an historic occasion. You have the opportunity as an evolver to step up and get to work learning how to live sustainably while assisting perhaps the hardest hit group of people in America.

Drat!
That is my oldest son's coming-of-age ceremony time. And I only have like two dollars wrapped anymore around my stacks of pocket ID cards anyway. My college trip to Wounded Knee, Black Elk Speaks, and now Permaculture! These are the strings of my heart!
Perhaps you can all wish us both well here in Indiana from September in Wounded Knee. The confluence of astoundedness from your invitation is like,.. wyrd.
In spirit
I cannot attend however I will show up in spirit. It is a shame how North American society has chosen to not make space for the Native in our society. Our Eskimo and northern communities suffer the same trials and tribulations.
Namaste, my brother Alan, mover of love.
gardening
I guess I will have to remember proper planting will help a plant have a
better future.
