The Symphony of the End of the World

Dreamer: Last night I had a dream that the world is ending and I am at the computer on various message boards for lightworkers. The time is literally clicking down and everyone is arguing vehemently. The seconds click down to the point where we are to blink out of existence. And then... the clock stops at 0:00 and everything freezes. The clock remains at 0:00, but life continues and everyone picks back up arguing like nothing had happened!
Amy: I might like to use the dream for my blog to focus on the bogusness of the idea of the world ending at one moment – which I think is all the interpreting the dream really needs, though there is a lot to expand on from that.
Dreamer: I interpreted it as somehow we being outside of time, and well... some things never changing (the arguments). It didn't seem particularly heavy.
Amy: I don’t know how heavy or light it is, but it is definitely instructive.
The ancient Greeks recognized two kinds of time: karos and kronos. Kronos is related to the word “chronology,” and denotes linear time. In contrast, an expression of karos is music. Karos refers to the time celebrated in Ecclesiastes 3: 1 – 9:
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
When we ascribe dates to the historical activities of man, we assign them to kronos, but as they unfold they are expressions of karos.
It is folly to believe kronos may subsume karos; that God would will the world to end on such-and-such a date. The end of the world is when karos & kronos unite through music; the music of the process that brings light to hidden realities; the process known as “apocalypse.” The end of the world has been underway since before time began; since when the world was divinely imagined.
In the mid-90s I dreamed the end of the world would take 60 minutes exactly, and that this duration was a series of movements comprising a symphony. After the symphony was complete in my waking-life, the world did not end in a snap, and trails of the old world continued to reverberate, just like how the arguing continues in your dream.
What I take from your dream is that the world has ended for you, the symphony is complete, eternity is here – the union of kronos & karos has conceived a new world - but the argument about what constitutes the new world is ongoing within you. It is ongoing primarily within the individual and secondarily in the collective.
In the collective, the new world is gestating, while in some individuals it is well-formed. The end of the world has been borne by saints, buddhas, thinkers and artists all through history. Today, it is more prescient in more people than ever. Those who are unaware of it cannot escape it. It finds them like it does everyone, either in a fell swoop through death or at a reasonable pace through increasing awareness.
The music of the end of the world – the music of drama and higher realities - seeps in through the cracks of our soundproofing over time. The music of the end of the world is in no rush. In its wake, no arguments are necessary except those taking place in one’s own mind.
For me, the world has ended many, many times and bit by bit, through dreams, mystical experience, mundane experience, and synchronicity that imbue me with ever-broadening perspective. A dream from 2000:
The world is destroyed in a nuclear explosion and reassembled so that east and west switch places.
Within me, destruction of the old world and construction of a new one were taking place on a level so deep and vast it was nuclear, and global in terms of my inner-world.
In mystical experiences, the world can end as clearly as in the dream. An example is the following experience that initiated the end of the world for my male self:
8/24/97: Tonight I went to bed with a lot of fear and panic in my body, having visions of killers, torturers and images of my fear that my death will come too soon. I went to sleep and in the middle of the night I woke and realized that the fear of dying that I had felt - which was the same fear that has been visiting me so often in dreams and waking-life in the last year - is a gate standing between me and reality. I asked the universe, "What if I let the terror go?" and suddenly everything I knew as reality felt hard and dead behind me and I merged into the universe, indistinguishable from it, not knowing my name, as pure as when I was born, being unaware of my separateness, and then becoming aware of what I had experienced only through my memory of it as I began to fade back into the old reality. If I let go of what I call my life, I die, the world ends, I merge with the moment, the universe, the Self. The ego is the thing that is murdered, and it is reborn.
After merging with the universe, the layer between my ego & the other parts of myself was so thin that I could jump to any of them easily. Then I dreamed: There are no visual images. I am able to perceive so fundamentally that I don't need visuals to understand what's happening around me. The dream speaks in different energies that interact as they normally would if they were in actual, visual, physical dream images. I explore different energies. I communicate with the deepest parts of myself. It is very tiring for the ego.
Some world music begins playing. It's two sets of drums - one high and one low - and a man from central Asia sings with it. This gives my thought & feeling order as I dance. I then walk away from it in the total darkness, leaving the music and returning to myself. I can hear parts of myself speaking to me very loudly and clearly. All of them are saying things like, "Can you hear us now!?" One is saying harshly, "Fact! Fact! Fact!"
The end of the world firstly occurs within our own selves. The Kingdom of Heaven is within. It’s not within romance, money, consensus reality or victory over anything but inner-demons. It’s in self-love, self-valuation, inner-unity and neutrality toward victory & loss.
After the new world is conceived within the individual, it is delivered to the old world like a baby, in the form of creations: writing, art, film, and music; which proliferate ad infinitum through the World Wide Web as they do in Heaven. Writing, art, film and music can refract the light of Heaven.
