About Me
- Bio
I am a 25 year old gay male musician and composer from South Minneapolis. My mother, who called me the nickname that I eventually took as a stage name, taught me how to play violin in childhood and who--in adulthood--gave me a viola, even though in adolescence I quit classical for guitar, piano and voice.
I recorded an album at 16, but promptly discovered that I didn't have the life experience to write good songs. And also it seemed like most musicians were in it for money and power, as though music was a means to an end I didn't respect.
So in college I pursued political theory, thinking that it would give me insight into the structures of power/knowledge that create inequality, slavery, and violence. It wasn't until after college that I rededicated myself to music, this time because it is the most effective way of communicating the messages that are now bursting out of me.
