Why are you fasting? If your doing it for detox reasons, unless you are a raw foodist, i suggest you slowly work your way away from cooked and processed foods into raw foods and then consider juice fasting. Its very difficult to do cold turkey, because after 24 hours, if you have alot of junk in your system (as most of us do) the cravings kick in hard.By the third day you feel like a feather and want nothing to do with food at all. I have tried time and time again. The only way that works, that is easy on your body is to transition. It may be months. But certainly you could replace a meal with a quart of freshly made juice, every day, if your trying to loose weight. If your just trying to get healthy, I would suggest looking into things like the hippocrates diet etc. Theres a book I'm into right now called Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine by gabrille cousens. The cheapest juice fast is celery, carrots and apples. Run them through the juicer, skin, seeds and all. Drink a gallon a day. Theres books with recipes that do specific things for your body, but i would reccomend changing your diet first, then worry about fasting. Pm me if you want more info, books, support etc.

organic produce is really

organic produce is really important, especially when juice fasting. chemicals and pesticides are not removed from produce in juicing, and if you're about to consume the juice of 20 carrots in 16oz then you're drinking a rather large dose of chemicals. there are supposedly juicers that remove toxins, but the average one does not. when you're fasting your body is dumping toxins into your blood stream and the idea is to supply as many nutrients as possible. obviously a large glass of toxic chemicals is not exactly the best idea.
and i agree it's probably best to begin by integrating a healthier, raw diet before fasting. and that should include juice in the lead up to fasting.

H2Ohhh

I definitely find it hard to transition too - carb addict here - any suggestions on curbing carb craving whilst moving towards all raw? Any tried and true recipes?

Juicing can be hard on the kidneys - make sure to also drink lots of water to assist your body in flushing out (ahhhem filtered/purified water)!
