What is cognitive liberty?

Cognitive liberty means that we ought to have the freedom, protected under law, to explore by whatever means we personally deem necessary, the full spectrum of human consciousness.

It derives back to the broader notion that it ought to be we, and we alone, that have jurisdiction over what goes into our bodies, whether that be raw milk, dietary supplements, etc, and take full personal responsibility for the outcomes.

To legally restrict certain means to achieving certain states is akin to restricting certain states in and of themselves which would not be otherwise achievable. Make no question about it, for the law-makers, this is exactly their aim, they care not that from a pharmacological perspective they are non-addicting, do not cause long-term impairment, score less harmful than many legal drugs on dependence and harm scales, they are concerned about what we learn about ourselves and the context of the individual under certain states - they are, to a certain extent, restricting human experience.

How can you advocate cognitive liberty?

By reaching out to people and having rational conversation with people about the topic, we can all work to advocate cognitive liberty. This topic can be approached from a variety of different perspectives, whether that be economic (there are many examples concerning what decriminalization and legalization would do for the economy), empirical evidence (the Johns Hopkins psilocybin study for example), or a matter of rights (why are there laws determining what we can and cannot consume, and no, it is not a matter of harm reduction).

Your on the mark here

I couldn't agree more, I have a post now Are You A Zombie? Where I discuss the toxins and low nutrition in food and advocate working with your neighbors for a healthier society free of drug treatments when not necessary and so on.

Church of Quantum Consciousness

yet another area

yet another area where gov interferes where it should not.

My only concern is if legalizing marijuana ends up to be another source of revenue for gov. i dislike this idea a great deal.

i like the idea of decriminlizing it instead of legalizing it. I would like the gov to just say nothing about it.

well

I don't think it should be treated any differently (from a tax perspective) from something innocuous, like say, a tomato plant.

The purchase of the seeds would accrue some sort of sales tax revenue for the government, and if you were to go to a shop and buy it, it would be taxed then. Would that be an issue do you think? I think it should be taxed like everything else, but it shouldn't be taxed as something "special" like with a sin tax.

The people that are more industrious would just be taxed initially when they purchase seeds and then grow it themselves.

What the free market would do to the types of strands available greatly excites me haha ... look at what has happened with craft beers for an analog

dont taze, I mean, tax me, bro

:) i think the gov should come clean on the true nature of their finances. i heard a speaker make the case that the larger cities and the state govs are actually quite flush with cash - that the public only hears about the ledger reflecting expenditures v taxes, etc. sounds like all our local govs are actually for profit corporations who invest in the market and are the greatest shareholders in it. so I dont feel so good about giving these guys anymore money. i think they should issue refunds. :)

is that actually true? hard to say, but nothing surprises me anymore.

but I agree - no sin tax. the gov will likely legalize it when they can justify making money on it, and so just like cigs and alcohol there will be sin taxes, I imagine.

we just need to get away from the belief that the gov needs to get a cut of everything we do. it honestly doesnt have to be this way. we could create a society with far less gov and taxes and still very much thrive and be safe.

ooops!

Sorry about the duplicate response. I'm not good with the Ipad.
