Zeitgeist movie - Age of Aquarius, Chaos, Greed

I just finished the Zeitgeist movie. This movie makes some really clear points in the first 30 minutes about the similarities between major belief systems throughout different ages (for example the story of Christ is basically a "re-mything" of the ancient pagan celebration of the return of the sun at the winter solstice), and the idea that we are shifting into a new astrological age.

The movie notes that we're coming toward the end of the age of Pisces (@ 1AD - 2150 or thereabouts) and entering the age of Aquarius. While there are many arguments about the timing of an age, in general, Pisces traditionally represents endings, death, repression, sympathy, escapism, addictions; and Aquarius represents counter-culture, altruism, humanitarianism, desire to help others and be helped by others, quarks, and friendship. In terms of a shift in consciousness, I can definitely see the more negative aspects of Pisces culminating and the beginnings of an Aquarian age.

The 2nd & 3rd parts of the movie deal with a 9/11 conspiracy, and a quick, glossy argument that the country has been controlled by money lenders since the mid 1800's or so. I have done some searching on Evolver about 'zeitgeist' because I didn't want to repost something already out there, and it seems a few of you have seen the movie - some loved, some have scoffed at it. Curious to hear some thoughts.

I am intrigued about really how much power and greed can people, any person, really crave in order to have absolutely no morality or compassion. I've also watched the Bohemian Grove movie, and though I'm not usually an obsessive conspiracy theorist, I guess I've always believed in a small band of powerful people that dictate national and now global events. Food, Inc. is another great movie that solidifies the idea of massive global control. It does seem to me that we're in the final stages of a cycle of greed and power by a few, as evidenced by the Multi-national corps completely controlling the food supply vertically, and the Fed and global bankers dictating both sides of ongoing wars, just for more money. The power plays seem to be more overt and almost ridiculous in the past few years; society is starting to turn in on itself health-wise and financially, and it seems people are finally (?) fed up with politics in this country. I recall growing up and learning for the first time about the world wars, and the depression, and how loyal americans were to their government. Since that point, we've been through a first hint at a revolution with the 60's, devolved back toward greed and power in the 80's, and maybe this time a revolution or revolt will stick.

What to do? Unplug completely from America or society? Try to fix the past with band-aids and healing circles? There is a theory I've heard from some chaos/anarchist camps that it's our duty to speed along the change, help complete the destruction of this society that's built on lies, greed, power for a few - as to get to a fresh start and build from the ground up again. How they propose to do this, I don't know, but its an interesting thought. Perhaps, just spreading the idea is enough. But it also seems prudent to unplug from the 'grid' as much as we can before it completely self-destructs. Thoughts..?

Been a while...

It has been a while since I have heard reference to this video. It still remains one of my favorites. If you wish more information about the Illuminati and protecting your health feel free to avail yourself of the u-tube video collection I have on my blog site. There are ten separate video sections, regarding this topic ' New World Order, Illuminati ' and ' Soft Kill, protect your health '. My favorite sections are ' Scientific Discoveries ' and ' Unveiling The Light '.

Namaste, my sister Astara, fear to love yields truth.

cool

thanks! I will certainly check out the links.. i am mid-way through the 2nd Z video. what's odd is that I've sort of 'known' all of this stuff my whole life and just never really stopped to consider before. well.. no time like the present.

Fav'o mine too!

This film is how I first encountered the Venus Project that OddEdges keeps strongly mentioning. It seems like they've added a lot of web based materials and resources since I watched it.

And with Ervin Laszlo championing http://worldshift2012.org/ we may be getting somewhere!

Indeed, I first encountered

Indeed, I first encountered the Venus Project via Zeitgeist 2. I had heard of and looked into Technocracy, Inc., and old movement from the 1930s that has held on, and which pioneered many of Fresco's ideas. (He was a member of the organization for a long time). He has evolved the ideas since then, but they remain what is perhaps my favorite vision of the future.

If, that is, we can get beyond the vested financial interests and the political ideologies that stand in the way of such change.

Perhaps we are looking at a revolution...and maybe this will happen finally.

one thing

one thing i do not agree with from the films is that people are 'inherently good', and all of our societal problems are due to a money-based economy. Even if every child was born into a paradise of love and plenty, you still have the basic issues of coveting/greed, jealousy, envy, sloth, all those good 7 deadly sins. i don't think technology in a resource-based economy can address that without causing other problems. let's say for the greed, jealousy, envy.. i suppose you could create some technology or drug to address it, but how does that help connect that person with the community? issues on counseling and personal growth and education can't be after-thoughts, they need to be corner-stone, i think.

i do like that the films take pains to address the religion issue as book-end issues, i think ontology has to be addressed first, middle, and last in order to really change.

Its about a realization that were all connected

All the answer's are inside once we connect with our hearts and connect with each other it will happen. Its that simple.

Another thing

As you point out, Peter Joseph attributes our problems to a 'money based economy'. He interestingly uses Ram Dass for his opening 'monologue' then goes on to debunk Christ, which struck me as a bit contradicting. It seems a bit of an over reaction to fundamentalism, though understandable given the history of atrocities committed in the name of G-d.

My main point beef with his perspective is that the reason that the money-based system has worked out so well is a problem more fundamental than the medium, it is the human ego that gives the illusion of separateness (of people, resources, the planet, etc.) and hence the compulsion to control, own, enslave, devour, etc. Once this is addressed, money will take care of itself. Replacing one ego-system with another seductively sublter form (the Venus project). Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe I AM a fundamentalist...

Symbol

By the way, Astara, I must say I absolutely love the graphic!
