Transcendence through Samsara

As humans, we have choices, and are very lucky in the choices we are given. We can choose how we want to behave, who we associate with, and we ultimately choose the kind of person we want to be. It is wise to be consciously aware of every decision we make, for any option could be the decision that may take us to or lead us astray from consciousness. It is easy to fall prey to the sirens song of self-indulgence, many people do it, and American culture pushes us to that choice. Living in a corporate nation, where humans beings are considered numbers, it is very hard to make the choice to be different; to dare to change and break cyclic boundaries.
I fell prey to a cyclic lifestyle for years. I did not trust myself, and therefore trusted no one. I subconsciously fed on energy from others by hurting them, and in turn, cosmically continued pain within myself. With a lot of soul experience and remembrance, and finally being able to accept my inner demons as a part of me, I became aware of the habits that had been taught to me my whole life; and I made the choice to change.
The Buddha believed in two states of being, Samsara and Nirvana. Samsara, which pertains to physical existence, means a continuous movement, which on a small scale can be related to birth and death. We wander on this circle, looking for things to bring happiness, clinging to attachment and fear of the unknown. But if we can let go of our so-called ‘needed’ attachments, Nirvana on earth cannot be so far-fetched. The collective being is stuck in Samsara, with the belief that possessions and attachment are the only ways to achieve happiness. When all along if we attempt to be mindful of our actions and learn the art of self denial for the well being of others, then Nirvana on earth can be achieved.
Being at peace seems to be a rare goal within the general public, but as feeling and emotional beings, we all bleed, cry, and laugh the same, and each and everyone of us deserves well-being and peace of mind. We must embrace our self-imposed cycles, thank them for teaching transcendent lessons, and move forward towards Nirvana on Earth.

A myriad bubbles were
A myriad bubbles were floating on the surface of a stream.
'What are you?' I cried to them as they drifted by.
'I am a bubble, of course' nearly a myriad bubbles answered,
and there was surprise and indignation in their voices as they passed.
But, here and there, a lonely bubble answered,
'We are this stream',
and there was neither surprise nor indignation in their voices,
but just a quiet certitude. -

And the amazing thing or not
And the amazing thing or not so amazing thing (it's both) is that Samsara and Nirvana are one...
Thanks for sharing these thoughts, Alexandra. They help me understand my own negotiations with the dharma.
Thank you Alix!
Wonderful post sweetie!
Poeting, thanks for pointing out that Samsara and Nirvana are in fact different manifestations of the same beautiful One!
much love to all!

this is wonderful darling.
this is wonderful darling. i'm so proud to see people i know post such intimate experiences, and admitting that you have faults is a gigantic step towards wisdom! we all have demons, and evil is not necessarily the opposite of good, it simply tries to distract us from what is good. Thus, it is crucial for us to experience evil so we can overcome it and realize positive, pure states of being.
duality
evil is good; good is evil, darling.

Allow yourself to be distracted. Embrace it all. Give up fighting life's 'weeds' and relax; enjoy the Garden. "YEP, SON, WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US. ..." Pogo, (crazy wisdom teacher.)
"... ways to achieve happiness..."
Samsara and Nirvana are polar aspects of the same thing. We can't be "stuck in Samsara" without being stuck in Nirvana at the same time. We can't get there from here, because it is here... all of it, all the time. Fortunately for us, 'resistance is futile.' No matter where we go we will always find ourselves right here. It is only by holding on to the notion that 'we' are here and Nirvana is over there, that we perpetuate the dance. And of course, it is the dance, Shiva Nataraj-ja's fiery dance ("Nataraj-ja" = "dance king") , that eventually liberates us from the not always so merry merry-go-round. Think 'dervishes,' or Woodie Guthrie's "Round and Round we'll go..."
In order to embrace something we need to be seen as separate from the 'embracee.' And we just ain't... All One!
Interesting blog... got me thinking. Thanks.
