We are the Rain Drops of Reality

So I once heard this analogy some time ago that really has really resonated with me more than another truth as to what it means to be an evolving consciousness.
We, humanity are basically rain drops falling chaotically through a seemingly endless void we call "our current reality" or "life". The rain drop (or Human) believes itself to be separate from the rest of the rain drops (or humans). It cannot see it's past (the rain cloud) nor can it see it's future way ahead of it, (the ocean below). The raindrop forgot where it came from and where it is going. All it can do is exist, be patient and wait for what comes next all the time being aware of it's self in the crazy rain storm of life. All of a sudden the rain drop hits the vast ocean with a splash (Death?) and realizes that "oh my god" I'm still here! The rain drop is aware of it's self along with It's true nature, the collective oneness.
Once the rain drop has felt the need to experience individuality once again, it allows it's self to evaporate into the cloud, (soul's journey into the consciousness of the child inside the womb?) to prepare it's self for the experience once again of individuality.
Once the rain drop is ready to experience the adventure of individuality the storm begins, chaos ensues (the shock a new born must feel in the chaos and beauty of the birthing process, this cold alien world of pain and discomfort) and the thunder and lighting erupt in a beautiful display or raw power, the essence that will give life to all things on this earth. Thus the rain drop is expelled from the cloud on it's way back down to the collective oneness of the ocean.
The philosophical debate to follow is where does the rain drop cease to be a rain drop and begin to be apart of the ocean? How doe we gauge this? Where do we cease to be our individual self and become one again? Is this what Evolver is assisting us in?

dude summer before senior year of highschool
In my meditation or whatever, thinking these thougts.... and they just kept going... and i was like RAINDROPS ha... so drew pictures of raindrops of thought through a fucntion of time... the idea stayed with me to desdcribe thoughts later on but i havent used it in a while
Eternal...
Very nice blog, no beginning, no end, eternal.
Namaste, my brother badrobot, one drop at a time.
Bittersweet
Well, if the universe is fundamentally, at rock base, bitter-sweet, then this view would be a good description of how it works.
I don't think so, though.

Well, I'm still alive and more or less an individual self, but it's only a matter of time until I die. So I guess we will all find out for sure, won't we? Or maybe 'we' won't find out anything? I think you're implying that 'you' will cease to exist as you. There is no you to experience your self as separate from everything else, in this case. Whether or not there is consciousness, or what consciousness is, is another question... but that's still pretty meaningless to you as an individual, since if it's real, it will exist one way or the other.... and as an individual as well... if you're open to it.

No, I don't feel we can know for sure just what kind of oneness the universe is...only that there is one eternal source... only. And it essentially does not matter for me. Is it that you would act differently knowing that this is only a temporary state... sort of like if God had been knocked in the head and temporarily developed (6 billion) split personalities? And these personalities, when they drift back into sanity, are still aware of themselves as discrete yet also somehow experiencing themselves as each other?
I have to admit my man, I have a hard time buying into that completely. For me, it is much more about working with what I do have rather than denying it as an illusion. Not that illusions don't exist, but even they are part of reality, have a source, and need to be acknowledged. We are still what we are regardless of whatever theories we may have about it. We just don't know what that is... just that it is what we are.
Don't get me wrong though...its great to tap back into the source. I'm not sure what kind of woo woo stuff goes on though personally. But I have suspicion that if you tap back far enough, you get to chaos and void.

Wisdom from Dad
(Upon further reflection:)
Well, my dad always told me:
The older you get, the more you realize we are all the same, and the more you realize we are all different.
It's hard to describe but
It's hard to describe but you will be you and everyone all at the same time, were all one.
So we will not be unique?
Hmm...
It sounds horrible to me;
I love faces, and this has nothing to do with ego or attachment.
like the analogy

I feel the whole reason why is because you will know.
You will be one with limitless consciousness aware of endless expansions of creation as your identity magnifies and multiple dimension's of self awareness.
As for the Drop of rain. Experience's may include falling to earth and becoming part of a tree or insect. Bottled water consumed by a Raccoon digging in trash can. This drop of water could have multiple experience's before during and after the great reunion. Time is also illusion.
And you know more than you think because thinking is finite and knowing is infinite! thinking brings you to the path of knowing its the stick the blind man use's to find his way along the path back to his vision (full awareness). Then again he might just be trying to find his bottle water LOL!!!
that's my feel on the wheel!
peace and love!

"And so it was revealed to me, that god is not a male person at all, verily she is not even a grownup. The goddess of goddesses is a little girl, so small indeed, she does not grow a single hair between her holy and virginal legs..."
Both are water, raindrop and ocean, but I can't see any advantage in being either of those...
