Betty Larrea is a writer, artist and educator. Betty has been writing poetry for 20 years and also loves expressing herself through visual art, music, photography, and dance. She has been performing her poetry at spoken word venues, including the Nuyorican Poet’s Café and the Waterbug Hotel since 1999. She enjoys blending words, images and eclectic materials into a form of mixed-media art that she calls “poetry collage.” Betty has displayed and sold her original artwork and poetry at several venues, including The Big Art Show in NJ and Philadelphia, The Underground Art Show and the 215 Independent Book Festival.
In 2007, Betty created Yummy Luv Press, to distribute and sell her own self-published books of poetry collage art and stamped metal jewelry.
“I love playing with words and making art out of them. I truly believe in the power of language to promote personal and social change. My writing and artwork explore human connections in all forms-emotional, physical, sensual and spiritual.”
As an educator and coach, she has provided a wide range of programs and services to support people of all ages to experience love fulfilled in their lives. She founded and ran the company Live Free2Be, which delivered holistic enrichment and entertainment programs combining yoga and art, for children, families, schools and corporate clients for 4 years in the NY/NJ metropolitan area.Betty received her certification as a yoga instructor for children from Karma Kids yoga and is currently teaching yoga a several preschools and dance centers in New Jersey. She is currently working on series of yoga and spirituality books for children and her first memoir.
Betty is also a trained facilitator of workshops based on the groundbreaking work of Katherine Woodward-Thomas, author of the best-selling book-Calling in the One. She loves creating art, yoga, meditation, singing, wandering through the woods, traveling, laughing, and playing.
