Artist & animatrix a.Minor requests your input on a work in progress, in particular seeking suggestions for music to complement animated artwork.

This is an unusual animation project for me in that my typical progression is to begin with the music & animate from there - in this case the visual imagery came to me first & as work slowly progresses, I find myself increasingly unsure of what to use for musical background. Currently I'm at a point where I cannot move much further forward without working with the music.

So I'm looking to my community for help!

I've made a small, short repeating sample into an animated gif & put it up on my website.

More information at the link above, but in brief I'm hoping for musical suggestions to accompany the images. (It has to be music I can legally use btw.) My designs are based upon Mayan & Aztec themes & the main focus of the animation is the continual, hopefully trance-like bubbling up of different designs, so, the music should be suitable for that mood.

Comment here, or email suggestions to brightmoments@together.net - & thanks!

Very interesting animation, far out.
Music is so emotional and ch ch ch changes with my mood,
while searching,
I found this ambient loop and when I watched/listened it sorta synchronized with the bubbles at that moment in ty I I ime is on.....

Euphoric

Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the suggestion Euphoric, it was a good one but the finished animation will be around 5 -6 minutes & I need music which can sustain interest for that length of time. While the loop you suggested does indeed work nicely with my short looping sample, I don't think it would work for the full length animation.

But I truly appreciate your input, thank you!

I also want to clarify that the finished animation will be synched TO the music, I do not need music which fits my animation. This is my stumbling block right now, I have finished frames but don't want to put them together until I have the rhythm of the music to work with.

And once again, this needs to be music I can use legally, in public settings - so ideally, if there is a musician out there who would like to see his or her music set to (I think) rather cool animation - talk to me!

update on animation in progress

SO!

whaddya know, this weekend i pulled out some old vinyl at random & i believe i found the music my ears have been remembering - it's from Herbie Hancock's album "Sextant", a tune called "Raindance"

Yup that's exactly what i had in mind.

Yes i have emailed Mr Hancock & NO i have not heard back nor do i have any hope that he might grant my request.

Pretty sure i'm gonna set this one aside for a while, possibly i will reuse these frames in another project, becuz now that i've (re)heard Raindance, i dunno if anything else will satisfy me, it's exactly what i had in mind, a puddly, rainy kinda music....

ah well, i'm only 35 years too late to make an animated vid for that album!!
