Can there be world peace?

It has always seemed to me as though balance is essential to the function of all things--and many times in my life this belief has been reinforced by the teachings of great thinkers, the advice of people around me, and the consequences of my experiences. A balance, it seems, exists between positive and negative, Light and dark, connection and separation, etc...

This has led me to a very troubling though however, and that is the question of whether or not there must be a balanced amount of love and hate (as we define them) in human existence. I am well aware of the fact that dualistic descriptions such as love and hate, happiness and unhappiness, good and evil are entirely fabricated by the minds of people, but is it a possibility for there to exist no "hatred" or "unhappiness" in the world? Can "sin" and self-segregation be eliminated from our vocabularies?
Essentially, I'd like to better understand what would become of our definitions of love and happiness if there was no evil and sadness to counter them- And what are the implications of the answer to this question on the possibility of world peace? Is it a goal that can truly be realized, or must there be some hatred, some division, and some violence (physical or emotional) for our species and our planet to understand the opposing states?

I see that in other species around the world there is an absence of duality between the various occurrences of life, as everything simply "is", and I strive to live without the use of such black and white terminology. There still remains the fact however, that many (or maybe even most) people view life in this way, and so to some extent it must be viewed through that lens. We have the power of conscious thought and the tendency to categorize, and under these conditions have come to a place where the notion of world peace (and the subsequent end to hatred and war) is an extremely important concept for most people. Using the same dualistic schema as they, is this even theoretically possible? Can there be all love and no hate?

I would love some insight from anyone who has pondered these questions before, or even to engage in some dialogue with those who are still searching for answers.
thanks!

enter free-will

I feel that contrasts and distinctions are needed even for love. Given even, just an infinitesimal edge of infinity, we are provided with seemingly endless opportunities to seek and make of it what we will. As such, free-will provides the act of free-will-denial. The contrasts of imprisonments and conquests.

'Hate' would appear as over indulged imbalances or disharmonies boxed-in , much too tightly. Release of the spirit from this disharmonious crowding can be found. Monotony can likewise box-in or imprison whole societies. Thanks then to the creatives, the playful spirits and others who may offer releases. Releases coded in the parlance of those times and places. The monotone, onerous prisons of the mind might be the most-common traps of all. Such that mind-expansion has new gardens spaces to sprout seeds of hope. May new codes and parlances sprout where ever these wastelands control.

A challenge arises. Is our mind able and free? Have we released ourselves from over-controls and from mental-manipulations, inwards and outwards, both?

Thank you for your

Thank you for your response!

But if contrasts and distinctions are needed even for love (which I also suspect to be true), then how can we all make of life what we will? -as in, if we all have the power to live act through love and live in happiness, then where will the distinction and contrasts lie?

Can all people truly realize peace and love without there being the opposite realities of war and hatred to contrast them?

words & meanings

".....then how can we all make of life what we will?"
We live in a world of voluntary 'will' interchanges. Ours is not the only will.

"....if we all have the power to live act through love and live in happiness, then where will the distinction and contrasts lie?"
We don't have power to control love of others, only our power to offer and receive love.

"Can all people truly realize peace and love without there being the opposite realities of war and hatred to contrast them?"

I expect that occurs on higher existences, or realms of perfection. Love is indeed the higher quest, for those with courage on earth. Courage in the face of assorted oppositions. I expect a world with an age long 'quarantine' has provided dynamic opportunity for the highest sort of soul courage and growth potential in love. Let us grow.

I choose to believe that there can be world peace

This is not based on logic, or on an analysis of human nature, or on deep reflection on how one can recognize light without darkness. I simply choose to believe that it is possible. I choose this because if I did not choose this, I would sink into despair.

This reminds me of the Bodhisattva Vow in Buddhism. A Bodhisattva is a person who chooses not to enter nirvana until everyone does. One version goes like this:

"Although suffering is endless, I vow to end it. Although blind craving is inexhaustible, I vow to extinguish it. Although the dharma way is infinite, I vow to master it. Although enlightenment is impossible, I vow to attain it."

In an objective sense, I do not know whether universal love and peace are possible. But I do know that it will never happen until people start believing it is possible.

Real meanings of words...

In this day and age all the spiritual word are defined. Sin is defined scientifically: Sin: actions which weaken the charge coherence of your aura- because either the hygiene is mistaken (does not FA-ATUN / 'fatten'=to feed aura) - and / or the memory they add does not serve collective genetic survival. (not shareable- and therefore not electrically propagable - not phase conjugate or fractal).

Overall there can not be peace unless we understand what creates violence: Competition! Check out my blog Revolution in Education for more info on that.

So once we have the correct meanings of the words, then we can go about making a change.

Also it is interesting that when you measure the pressure of emotions:
Anger-1/7
Joy-1/6
Hate-1/3
Love-1/phi=.618...
