Today I want to talk about balance.

I’m easily knocked off balance whenever I’m living off balance to begin with.

By this I mean the balance between work and play, and also my need to live just for today, and also for tomorrow.

For today: I need to remember how strange and wonderful it is to be alive. To center myself, and slow down long enough to actually arrive where I am. To praise God by having a fucking ball. To lose my mind and come to my senses. To live a life worthy of life. And to do all this as if nothing I do matters in the long run…because, of course, it doesn’t.

For tomorrow: I need to “find the others” and join with them to envision and start building a future worth sacrificing for. This is because I simply need an overriding sense of purpose and meaning to my life to feel fully alive. And to do all this as if all my actions (and inactions) matter and make a difference, because, of course, they do.

Finally, I need to embrace the contradiction of these two ways of being.
