About Me

Bio

Well, I am originally from Detroit, the underdog of these United states. My father, the honorable spiritualist minister Daniel M. Kivel, gave me the middle name Persephone, perhaps knowing full well the duality that I would face in my future.
I'd like to see Hell Michigan become Heaven MI*
I do Love LA and want more than anything to join with other bioneers in building a creative, farming as art community smackdab in downtown Detroit. Most importantly I think a time-banking system would bring the about the Renaissance that our people have prayed for since the decline of Motown.

As life would have it, I am very happily married with an eight year old child named Jude Baron Maxwell. My husband Gaston Nogues, is one half of a design team called Ball-Nogues studio, that specializes in installation art.

My sons biological father Reid Maxwell and I have teamed up to provide the San Francisco south experience in Lincoln Heights, which is the first suburb built in Los Angeles, California. Our creative space HM157( Historial monument.) is dedicated to the propagation of all positive possibilities. We highly encourage creativity, comradery and campiness to an under served community. We seek out those who teach and preach Independence and self determination, that promote perma culture and incorporate ancient wisdom into our daily lives. We LOVE showcasing innovators in adaptive and recycling arts.
To all of the above, we dedicate our space, enthusiasm, lives and limbs towards revitalizing our immediate and global community in the name of LOVE. United we wish to strive hand and hand in becoming healthy, wealthy and wise. We firmly believe that Heaven is right here, right now, if only we honor our great Mother nature as a rule and not just when it's convenient.

ALL of this being said, our space is available to EVOLVERS to further causes, stage lectures, work shops, fund raisers and spectacular events.

As far as me and my "Art" goes, my concept is called "The Church of Fashion." And I love creating costumes and heroic personae for fashion oriented performance art. What I create relates and attempts to represent endangered species and cultures. I feel that fashion is a very powerful method of communication that is absurdly underutilized.
I think that when it comes to suffering, it's outta sight outta mind.
The media seldom shows us unpleasantness. Shows like Jerry Springer give us a false feeling of superiority .

I feel that artists are seduced into producing provocative marketing that convinces us to trade in Natures bounty for instant poison that "Tastes great" and "Keeps ya going." How do they rationalize the reality of our monstrous consumptive habits ? They plaster sex objects on TV, so you don't look outside your windows and see children getting shot for their sneakers. (sorry about that tangent.)

Somehow I see myself as the Huckleberry Finn of consideration, I aim to playfully captivate and influence the influential, in order to "Get it done."
For I live to see the day that all invasive and oppressive species are put in our place and poetic justice is finally served.

As far as my medium goes, I'm into optimizing the obsolete, mainly by using old garments and reincarnating them into street/high fashion that encourages conservation and puts down consumption. I highly value craftsmanship, so I love salvaging glorious elements and embellishments from "Donors" abandoned at thrift stores or that gets rejected by vintage shops. I feel very strongly that the fashion industry as a whole is terribly destructive towards our environment, a HUGE waste of our resources and a guilty pleasure that perpetuates slavery. Buying cheap thrills rewards the evil doers every time*

All in all, the cross I'm forced to bare, is clearly seeing the potential in everything and everyone that gets trampled under foot. In my heart I know that was born the mascot of every Underdog under the sun. ( Except for the selfish) I would have to say that I'm a true believer when it comes to the power of yes and no. Meaning, the truth is that a little encouragement can go a long way.
Come join the church of fashion, for it's time to shine*
