18 days: 18 ways

I am bemused by being in this moment. I am swept into the sacrificial spirals of the sacred. I am wept along with the women and men of Egypt. We have been gifted by their incredible dream of freedom. Their incredible belief of self, community, and truth. Their persistent prayers have produced a miracle that will undoubtedly ripple throughout our histories of past, present, future. I am caught blinking in disbelief: they won a war simply by refusing to compromise their inner truth. Bless them for listening. In eighteen days and nights, a mere two and a half weeks, their commitment to the inner heart of themselves, their family, and their country, has changed the world as we know it.
Eighteen days of sacrifice, eighteen days of righteousness, eighteen days of trust. They created a miracle. Oppressive rule crumbled against eighteen days of peace. Crumbled, cowered, and became as broken on the surface as the depths of their repressive shadowed hearts. May this act of peace shine light into the darkest of places.
I am blown away...eighteen days. I can’t stop saying that in my mind. My hearts is beating more rapidly as I feel this inner wealth of power rise within. Empowerment is the word. A little bird sung the song of revolution in my ear yesterday and I am charmed by its power of truth. The only thing I can do is stand solid. Follow the example of the righteous. America has been at war for TEN YEARS! Ten years. Al-Qaeda and other violent organizations have been trying to bring down imperialism for thirty. And in eighteen days of truth, non-violent, empowered love, the Egyptian people have wowed history.
I am brought to the question... How can I exercise my freedom and create a miracle in eighteen days? Without a peopled country behind my back, the result probably wont be as front page worthy. So how about eighteen ways? How can I follow my inner truth and revolutionize my world?
But before I begin my list, I must ask the question again... why are we still at war? Have we forgotten? We should gather together, refuse to work, stay in our hearts and gather.. gather and refuse to feed the machine until Obama has no other choice then to drop his weapons. Please let us pay heed to the world of peace and learn how simple it can be. And I am not blinded by the results. I see there must be sacrifices. And there would be suffering. There already is.
For the next eighteen days I will write one way a day in which I commit myself to an inner truth, no matter who tries to shout me down.
1) As a women who loves her body, and values her worth, I will refuse to ignore any longer the natural flow of my bodies rhythm in order to appease others. I will not work against nature and push my body beyond its truth while cycling through the first days of my menstrual cycle. I will bleed under my own roof, thank you. I will seek support, I will give support and I will anchor down the moon in honor and love.
Holy, Holy, Holy,

Committment to Inner Truth
Power Up!
I hadn't thought about recent events in that light... just 18 days. I have loved reading the articles about how these events completely caught the world's "intelligence" agencies off guard, not having any clue. It truly shows how genuinely a people's movement this was, without a central organizational body other than the internet. Profound.
I love the idea of pushing one's self to find a series of ways to commit to an inner truth. My path has been about that very much recently also, and has caused me to instigate some sweeping changes, including ending a wonderful 2 1/2 year very loving and creative relationship because I knew in my heart that it was selfish and not aligned with deeper responsibilities. But I know that by it's very nature, inner truths can never be avoided, and the longer we don't honor them, the harder they will bite us when they inevitably resurface.
I too have been profoundly moved by recent events in egypt, and feel like their reverberations will be felt for quite some time. To honor that spirit of indomitable passion, I created this video with a remix of one of my pieces to reflect the power of determination to effect the change you would like to see in the world. Please pass it around if you like it.
