Technology of the sacred...

Smoking Changa offers a clarity that is lacking in most ayahausca brews. The leaves of B. Caapi have different quantities of harmine and tetrahydroharmine then what is present in the vine. People debate on the ratios of the vine and leave alkaloids, however the fact remains that the majority of bio-assays by individuals who smoke the leaf report that the leaf provides a much clearer, less mentally fogging and intoxicating experience then the tea. The addition of vine reported can assist in the strengthening of the over all effects, as well as duration, but the addition of vine to the blend can create more of a stoning effect.

This enhancement of clarity is perhaps one of the most interesting things about this medicine and it is perhaps one of the main aspects that allows for the analogy of evolution to be used in its description. It can be said that this is the evolution of ayahuasca because the clarity that is provided breaks the cyclic need for guidance, support, as well as the leadership role of the shaman/curandero/ayahuascero in ceremony. The decentralization of the shamanic figure in the ceremonies comes from the clarity of the experience as well as the fact that there are no debilitating, nauseating, purgative effects. This allows the individuals participating in group or solo sessions the ability to self initiate the healing and growth process, listen to their own guidance, and learn from the plants alternative ways to cleanse oneself in more subtle energetic ways yet just as powerful and effective as the purging effect with the tea. This method of working with B. Caapi and DMT in a sense decentralises the shaman figure and places it in the heart of the individual.

Changa like ayahausca grants a very clear voice and feeling of guidance, a clear sense of another wiser helping voice is heard within, the voice of the plant teachers. People who smoke changa are encouraged to enter into dialog with the plants. The plants act as a mediator between the individual and transpersonal forces of nature, including the larger self, the awareness of the whole. One can commune with nearly anything if one allows the personal changes that must occur for that to happen, this leads to healing, growth and transformation.

Changa allows us all to be our own shamans, it frees us from the need of dogmatic religious beliefs as well and provides direct relationship with the ineffable, with that which guides, heals, and teaches. This new relational dynamic creates a shift in the traditional ayahuasca practices, the ceremony has changed. We are in relatively new waters. Discovery and innovation led us to Changa and it is leading us into new ways of practicing with this medicine. As it is said in traditional medicine work... Walk behind the medicine...

A Note on preparation and working with the medicine:

Few people know the proper methodologies of preparing Changa and working with it to show its utmost potential. Because of this people have compared it to DMT infused leaf, or just another method of smoking DMT. The real amazing synergy that occurs with Changa is when a proper concentration of leaf and vine has been done for the base smoking mixture. Some preparations totally miss out on this point and people truly miss the boat... a 10X concentration of leaf and vine creates an incredible and clear experience comparable to very clear ayahuasca experiences, though markedly with its own unique quality. Ones method of smoking is also a point of concern some people just don't smoke it right. hard to believe but if one smokes once every fifteen to 20 minutes depending on how good of a hit they take and how long they hold it they can maintain the clear experience of this medicine for nearly 2-3 hours. Going into peak states with every new hit or continuing the same level depending on how they gauge the amount smoked.

Some people who have smoked Changa for the first time reported no effect with extremely high quality Changa because the way it was smoked was not allowing the effects to occur. Two hits done in succession is the way to go. People can experience very shallow waters from the Changa experience if it is not done properly.
