In this episode members of the Evolver Community discuss their journey and transformation with psychedelics.

First up we have Evolver co-founder Jonathan Talat Phillips interviewing Reality Sandwich contributor Adam Elenbaas about his new book, "Fishers of Men: The Gospel of an Ayahuasca Vision Quest." Adam discusses his journey from being a “hell-damning” fundamentalist Christian to recovering from drug addiction and healing himself and his family line through ayahuasca ceremonies in the Amazon. He shares his encounters with mystical beings and inter-dimensional creatures during his adventures with this shamanic brew, as well as his thoughts on why Jesus was the social activist version of the Buddha, how there is nothing to fear in the entire cosmos, and ways we might redeem modern Christianity.

Next up I interviewed Isabella Stoloff who is the Evolver Regional coordinator for Evolver Orange County. She is also a practicing Shaman and heads up the Orange County Healing Center. In this interview she talks about how she came to be involved with Evolver through her Shamanic work in the Amazon. She mentions a Love meditation that she did at the Evolver Long Beach Love Spore and that was captured on video and is up on youtube.com for you to check out.

Finally we have a captivating story of transformation with Jennifer Palmer interviewing Charles Shaw talking about his journey, and how psychedelics helped him get, "paroled from hell”. Charles has been a long time contributor with Reality Sandwich and has also spoken at a number of different Evolver Spores. Currently his book "Exile Nation: Drugs, Prisons, Politics & Spirituality” is being released chapter by chapter on Reality Sandwich--you can read the most recent installation here. Charles is also about to kick off his “Light and Shadow: Exploring Personal & Cultural Transformation” tour. The tour will be visiting over thirty cities and will also feature RS contributor Michael Garfield. While on the road Charles will be shooting for his upcoming documentary project “Unheard Voices”. Enjoy the interview and check out everything that Charles is up to.

I'm happy to announce that as of this month we've joined the Alterati family of podcasts. I also want to thank everyone in the Evolver Social Movement who helps make things like this possible, and special thanks to Inner Traditions for sponsoring this month.

good stuff =)

Hey chris let me ask you this... has there been any talk or brainstorming on how to push this for legalization or decriminalization at least? I think this is great because it brings awareness about the healing benefits etc etc but the State as in the government creates this wall between the use of these substances and the gross of people... yeah I know this podcast and the spores are meant to shed light into this matters but it is still illegal in this country unless it's part of a religious context and I don't think the spores nor evolver falls into that category... this I say because I'm genuinely concerned about you all's safety...
Anyway I personally have little experience with psychedelics which has been really healing and very spiritual... I would love to expand and further my experience but not feeling like a criminal...

Best regards

Hi Sergio, Well first MAPS

Hi Sergio,

Well first MAPS has done an amazing amount of work on the legalization of psychedelics. They have worked with clinical psychologists, a number of other people, and the FDA to get a lot of different approved psychedelics research going. A ten year long MDMA study just wrapped up. It impressed the US government so much that now they are pouring money into another study that will be working with veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. So there is a lot of work going there. It appears more and more like Marijuana will be legal very soon in California.

All of that being said one idea that Evolver has thrown around but doesn't currently have the resources to do is starting up petitions through the Evolver community. The main focus of the petitions we talked about was to petition the laws restricting these substances.

So yes, there are a number of things happening to help push these substances towards legalization. I might add that a number of countries including Mexico some of these substances are already legal. You can go into a pharmacy in Mexico and get Ibogane.

I hope this helps to answer your questions.

for real???
and yes that answers my questions... I understand about the resources and as soon as you have a petition going on I'll gladly help... I'm finally meeting some cool people in my new home town =)... so I can propagate this kinds of news/petitions etc... well congrats to you all this very interesting... I'm not an expert at all in regards of psychedelics but form what I read (primarily from RS) and some other sources (TMCkenna videos on youtube) if used properly they can help ppl with addictions to harder drugs like heroin, meth, etc (just like you mention in your post)... which would put a stop on the demand which will diminish the cartels power in Mexico and South America, and so and so forth...
I'll look up what you said about MAPS research... very good news
