This Transmission, "Starchild: Lady Cygnus Over the Dogon," is from the zodiacal period of Leo ranging from July 22 - August 23 corresponding to the musical note of E performed by Sophomore. Peacock.
On Cygnus and the Dogon:
The Cygnus constellation is known throughout mythology, but what concerns us here in particular is Ancient Egyptian mythology. The Dogon are a West African tribe who's oral mythology closely resembles that of Ancient Egypt, offering a present day view of the distant past.
According to Andrew Collins, author of Beneath the Pyramids and the Cygnus Mystery, Cygnus corresponds to a cosmic goose, "the Great Cackler" in Ancient Egyptian cosmology that lays the sun-egg that births the creator god.
Further more, "On the famous round zodiac of Denderah, created as late as c. 50 BC, there appears a cosmic goose, and careful analysis of its position in the night sky shows that it formed part of a constellation composed of the stars of Cygnus and the bright star Altair in Aquila, the celestial eagle, an area of the Milky Way dominated by the dark nebulous region known as the Great Rift. This indicates that the Ancient Egyptians saw the point of creation as located in the vicinity of Cygnus. In addition to this, the Great Cackler was a totem of Geb, the earth god, whose wife/lover was Nut, the sky-goddess. Occasionally, the Great Cackler is shown at the feet of Nut as she is prised apart from Geb in order to form the sky and earth.
Other theories, like that of astronomer and Egyptopologist Dr. Ronald Wells, point to the goddess Nut, the goddess of the sky, as "a personification of the Milky Way with her vulva and birth canal corresponding to the stars of Cygnus. This would make the Great Rift, which extends from Cygnus down to Sagittarius, the place of emergence of the sun-god, reborn at dawn on the winter solstice, as he was also in Maya cosmology."
This Friday, August 20, come see Sophomore. Peacock perform in NYC at Local 169 at 8PM. The energy and alignment still corresponds to the key of E and the fire sign of Leo, so come harness this energy with a potential improvisational jam in E, which corresponds to the third chakra of the solar plexus. This chakra is tied to physical aspects such as the digestive system, the adrenals, the stomach, the liver, and the gall bladder. The metaphysical aspects include the "function of clairsentience and general psychic energies and experiences, and can reveal the talents and capacities of other souls." Remember, it's only an experiment, anyway it should be a hell of a musical performance!!!!
