I have many intellectual heroes.

We live in an age of genius and epiphany, and the world is rife with messengers of evolved consciousness. There are scientists and experts in every field of human knowledge peddling wares of wisdom who probably do not fully realize their contribution to the momentum and energy we are gathering about us. Every last snippet, each humble revelation, is a further ingredient in our stew of spiritual innovation. I thank them all for what they have bequeathed me, and honor my stewardship to their knowledge.

But none of them is quite like Terence.

Terence McKenna is sadly not quite a household name. Worse still, to many, he is simply ‘that mushroom guy’ – the psilocybic analog to Timothy Leary, ‘that acid guy.’ Unfortunately, it is controversy that breeds fame, rather than the offerings of deep knowledge. I wish I could tell the world, make them understand, make them listen. Terence McKenna was not ‘that mushroom guy,’ he was that everything guy, and that is what made him truly special.

When one listens to his hypnotic rambling for long enough, it becomes clear that this ethnobotanist-by-training was capable of speaking meaningfully and deeply on basically any subject. He has taught me incredible things about religion, quantum physics, politics, economics, language, mathematics, evolutionary biology, ethnography, anthropology, geology, cosmology, psychology, computer engineering, and the list goes on. It would seem nearly impossible for one man to host such a broad intellect were it not for the simple understanding resting at the center of his philosophies: everything is connected. This singular insight was so fundamental to his worldview that it was generally implicit and unspoken, yet it was the conduit of synergy between all the otherwise seemingly disparate topics on which Terence frequently spoke. He could flow seamlessly between these things because he had an intuitive sense of the congruencies and patterns that lay beneath. The result of this was that he came off not just as an expert in all these different fields, but a true revolutionary, usurping the dogmatic, received ‘truth’ as a mere matter of course.

My first introduction to Terence, many years ago, was with the Spacetime Continuum album “Alien Dreamtime.” It was also my first introduction to the concept of the awakening of consciousness and the impending psycho-spiritual revolution. I was literally changed forever. The course of my life shifted as I gained a new understanding appreciation of the things that really matter, of the things that really exist.

That’s what this website is about, and it is just one public outpouring of the revolution among many. People are waking up. We are forerunners and heralds of this movement and Terence McKenna is perhaps the greatest of our prophets. He knew what was coming, and dedicated his life to making sure we all knew and were preparing ourselves properly. We are his lasting influence, the inheritors of his mission and his magic. Let’s bear that torch proudly and wave the banner high. Evolve well, friends.

Everything is deeply intertwingled.   --Ted Nelson

In November I completed a Ph.D. thesis on psychedelics and language that is majorly drawing on Terence's work. I think it is the first "scholarly" work treating T. McKenna's work both seriously and critically.

His time is always coming.
