the new creed?

I know, it's "old news" but here's something; a bit of a different take on the whole climate(change/gate) issue.

I found this on the http://alles-schallundrauch.blogspot.com/ website, and it is a report which was aired on the 3Sat tv-channel (joint operation of the state tv providers of Austria, Germany and Switzerland - and may I say so, next to 'arte' a tv channel that can still be watched...as they do go off the beaten track at times and do not follow where all the commercial, and at times even the state channels go).

Its basic jist is that the climate change/climate issue is becoming the "new religious belief" of our time.

I attempted a translation of the report (as it is only available in German) - here it goes:

We believe in climate change; believe because we do not know but because politicians and scientists told us for so long that it is getting warmer and therefore it must be true. It's a dogma - i.e. what we lack in knowledge is made up by believing/religious certainty.

Who would want to contradict that living areas of polar bears and seals are diminishing. Who is not concerned that more and more people have to live in more and more merciless areas.

Something tells us: we are guilty of it all - the rich industrial nations with our exploiting of the environment. The climate is our guilty conscience.

We want a wholesome world, a clean environment, an innocent romantic relationship with nature and compensate with the evocation of human made natural disasters.

"The belief in climate change brings us eye to eye with a foreseeable catastrophe i.e. we can feel/sense religiously again without having to believe in a God. This seems to be, for an atheist society as ours, a sheer irresistible offer to believe".

The Christian religion became too exhausting. We want to believe in something and before we don't believe in anything, we believe in the Armageddon. The end - so the experts - is near and following our Christian tradition, here too, we take all sins upon us.

The state churches are now also talking about climate - but too late. Even a smiling bishop Tutu can't make those believers return back to the fold of the church.

Because the new climate religion has the contemporary offer - FEAR - i.e. media staged fear. In the opening film at the Copenhagen conference a child dreams of the Armageddon.

"To say I am afraid is to say all is at stake - my existence, the existence of human kind, the existence of the earth - no more is possible and with this "no more is possible", with this fear rhetoric one creates the gauge of one's own excitement so far only religious topics could create and this is why one can comprise things what people do with nature into religious categories"

Our God is no longer God Father but Mother Earth and we are subject to her - it is so written in the bible of the climate religion - the Kyoto protocol. The first commandment is that "it should not get warmer by 2 degrees". Since then all biblical plagues are environmental plagues. Humans have maltreated the earth and now she exercises revenge. This is what the community of the believers is saying - the followers of the environment conference. From all climate summits they call upon us: Turn round and regret as your sin is the CO2 emission. And sin is also industry and technic - devil stuff. And you who live in such countries are all sinners. Your life is only laziness and indulgence. But there is a way out - the trade with CO2 certificates, so to fly climate neutral into your decay.

Who does not want to listen - Greenpeace will be upon them; the world's environmental police, they are the arch angels of the climate religion and Al Gore is their prophet with the charm of a TV preacher. His film of the inconvenient truth is his proclamation.

"Al Gore is the first politician who has dared again - at least in the Western World - to act as a prophet and one could say he followed a shattered politician's career with a very successful prophet's career - and this, interestingly, with the material of avant-garde science - this is a pretty disastrous mix".

The mix was prepared by science with the icon of climate warming - with a graph that shows the warming of the past 100 years so nicely. But then one got word that the followers of the CRU - the most important climate institute in the world - manipulated data for this, oppressed differing data, mobbed colleagues who did not agree, denounced as heretics.

The science committed the fall from grace and lost its methodical innocence as it was under the pressure of politics. Politics discovered the topic as a dangerous-less sense giving - the project "safe the world" prepared with catechism by the climate watch council of the UN and made the man-made climate warming into a dogma.

"Normally it should be politics' responsibility to look at the hypothesis and see whether it is manageable and then to say ok we need to act like this or that, but one had put the responsibility here onto science and said 'you need to make up your mind and decide and then we can decide'. And at that moment when science joins the game being pinned down to a clear statement in such a complex topic then science is lost".

"Seldom were we further away - in the past decades - from liberalism and mass enlightenment than today. On the contrary, we fell back into the hands of prophets".
